Calvin Simpson-Hunt ranked as an On3 Consensus four-star recruit in the Class of 2023 coming out of Waxahachie (Texas) High School. Simpson-Hunt signed with Ohio State over Texas Tech, TCU, Alabama and Texas offers. As a senior, Simpson-Hunt was selected to play in the All-America Bowl in San Antonio. He finished out his high school career with 25 tackles in 10 games as a senior. He also added two tackles for loss, one fumble recovery and three passes defended while helping Waxahachie to a 10-3 record in 2022. He had 29 tackles, five tackles for a loss, one sack and one interception as a junior. Simpson-Hunt is also a gifted track athlete, with a 100-meter-dash time of 10.97 seconds and a 22.00-second 200-meter-dash. His mother is Janel Simpson.
