The NFL Draft is a huge component of success in college football recruiting. When recruits see a program having multiple players drafted, it sells the program’s ability to develop NFL-ready players.

Brugler and Wells open up with a rather large number: 11. That’s how many Longhorns were selected in the 2024 NFL Draft last weekend in Detroit. It’s a big change from the past when Texas would get 2-3 draft picks and a dozen undrafted free agents. Times have changed.

Texas had the second highest number of draft picks, following Michigan’s 13. Despite having many picks in 2024, Texas still has strong prospects for the 2025 draft. The success reflects Texas’ capability in recruiting and developing talent. Brugler, known for his draft guide “The Beast,” discusses the importance of his publication in draft analytics.

The draft analyst highlighted the surprises and standout performances from the NFL draft, noting Texas had a significant presence with numerous picks.

In the video, the discussion about Texas players in the NFL draft is extensive, focusing on their performance, potential in the NFL, and the specific traits that stood out to scouts and analysts.

Byron Murphy was highlighted as a standout defensive player, selected by the Seattle Seahawks. Despite not being the ideal size for a defensive tackle, his technique, ability to leverage his body, and violent hands were noted. His role in improving the Seahawks’ run defense is expected to be significant.

Xavier Worthy was discussed for his exceptional speed, which makes him a significant asset for the Kansas City Chiefs. His ability to play underneath and create his own space, despite his size, could see him making an immediate impact in the NFL.

Christian Jones was noted for his improvements over the years, particularly in pass protection. His versatility in playing both left and right tackle positions and his physical attributes, like his arm length and mobility, make him a valuable pick for the Arizona Cardinals.

Although not as prominently featured in the draft discussion, Keilan Robinson’s abilities on special teams and his speed were expected to translate well to the NFL, providing him with opportunities to make an impact.

Jaylan Ford was appreciated for his instinctive play and tackling ability, which led to a significant number of tackles over his college career. His understanding of the game and ability to be in the right place at the right time are expected to benefit the New Orleans Saints.

Ja’Tavion Sanders, transitioning from a defensive end to a tight end, shows potential as a three-level threat due to his size and athleticism. His ability to win down the seam and work the middle of the field could make him a valuable asset for the Carolina Panthers.
