Lane Kiffin pokes fun at Nick Saban over lack of Twitter

Twitter as we know it continues to change under new management these days. Regardless of what it is or what anyone calls it, though, Lane Kiffin believes that it’s long overdue for Nick Saban to sign up.
Kiffin responded to a tweet from Saturday Down South on Sunday evening that asked who is the best follow on the app besides himself. In his quote response, Kiffin made his desire for Saban to grow some Twitter fingers clear.
The relationship between Saban and Kiffin is well-documented whether in Tuscaloosa or as SEC West rivals. That continued this week with Kiffin coming to Saban’s defense when it came to criticisms, specifically Paul Finebaum’s.
Now, although over the age of 70, Kiffin started the campaign to get the GOAT on Twitter. However, there’s no telling what the app will be by the time Saban even considers making an official account for himself.
Finebaum fires back at Kiffin for criticism about ‘pissing off’ Saban
Lane Kiffin doesn’t shy away from saying what’s on his mind. At SEC Media Days, there was a lot on his mind, including criticism of Nick Saban from Paul Finebaum that made headlines.
Finebaum then later had to clarify his point on Saban’s legacy.
As he has proven in the past, Kiffin has some amount of reverence for Saban after the legendary Alabama coach helped revive his career. He doesn’t share that same appreciation for Finebaum, though, and during an appearance on Get Up, Finebaum tried to explain why that might be.
“Lane blames me for getting him fired at USC,” Paul Finebaum said. “I blasted him on College GameDay the morning he got fired. And he later told me the president heard it and said, ‘If he loses, he’s fired.’”

While at SEC Media Days, Kiffin said, “I’m a Finebaum guy.” However, he also added that Finebaum should get his facts right before taking any shots at people. On Get Up, Finebaum continued to defend himself, saying his comments about Saban weren’t properly understood.
“So, what he’s talking about there is my criticism of Nick Saban. Not so much of his legacy, but that’s how it got interpreted, but where he is with Kirby Smart. Thanks to you, your question yesterday, has Saban been eclipsed by Kirby Smart?”
On top of that, it seems like Paul Finebaum thinks that Lane Kiffin might be throwing stones from a glass house with comments like these given his own history.
“But I find it so fascinating about Lane. Here’s a guy that was on Saban’s staff. And do you remember, Greeny, the week before the national championship game? He got fired. Now, that sounds crazy but he had already quit. He had already announced that he was leaving. So, I don’t really take Lane Kiffin seriously when he pledges his allegiance to Nick Saban.”
