Report: Kentucky center Ugonna Onyenso out until October

SportsNet play-by-play broadcaster Matt Devlin said on Wednesday’s broadcast of Kentucky‘s GLOBL Jam game versus Team Germany that Ugonna Onyenso will “more than likely” be out until October.
Onyenso injured his ankle Tuesday in an exhibition game ahead of GLOBL Jam.
“They are without their big, Ugonna Onyenso, was injured in a pre-tournament exhibition yesterday,” Devlin said during the second quarter of the game. “An ankle injury, more than likely will not be back until October.”

Calipari announced Onyenso’s injury in a tweet Wednesday before the game.
“At the end of yesterday’s scrimmage, Ugonna hurt his ankle. He’s not going to play today and we will have to see if he can do anything the rest of the week,” Calipari tweeted. “I am proud of how he played yesterday against Africa. He had six blocks and impacted the game in a positive way.”
Onyenso made 16 appearances for the Wildcats last year, averaging 2.5 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.0 block per game.
