I don’t think anyone is really trying to knock Williams, just that we don’t see pope being able to develop him. Kid has potential
I mean...Pope did a poor job this season but all things considered, he had a very nice year one. I can't sit here and pretend he is the worst coach in college hoops, because he's not. His biggest issues are with recruiting and roster construction IMO. Thats what did him in last season and its what will get him fired next season if he doesn't get on the stick, quick. Landing this kid would be a good start. Lots of Championships have been won with teams full of four stars

I think his coaching is pretty poor too. Bad defensively and poor substitution patterns. There were alot of head scratchers and red flags in year 1 too, we lost in the same ways both years

Are you serious or just being sarcastic?
He'll be lucky to get 500-750k.
I am talking about the realities of having the Dope as the coach and recruiter. If you see my other posts, I agree with others he is in the low 6 figures in value, and would be less if his dad wasn't an NBA all star.

He looks small and slow. But sometimes you can't go by measurables. I dunno. He can dribble, shoot, and has better court vision than anyone on this year's team. Not that is really saying much.

If he doesn’t have some speed and quickness he would be horrible in this offense

He looks good to me like a guard Texas Tech/Iowa St would have I say sign him up if he can which I say he will not.

Actually looks like a Cason Wallace clone. Solid built frame that won't get pushed around and not afraid of contact

I actually like his game and if he wants to come and work his way into playing time, sure. He's also a great insurance policy at the PG spot. I was trying to think of who he reminded me of, I just saw last weekend in the tournament. Maybe the PG for High Point? Not sure

I hope he's good enough and we get him but I could see Pope losing him to Jackson State and that's not a good look. We could always hire his dad but hiring a coach to get the #125 ranked recruit isn't a good look either.

I’m sure UK’s nil is the reason. I’d take his dad as an assistant. Obviously can relate to kids.
Always thought Rod Strickland also a former nba guard was instrumental in helping UK. Those guys are good to have on staff

Not the elite player we all might be hoping for, but if he is cheap, he will be fine for PG depth.

We need to be realistic about depth. We aren’t going to be stocked 2 deep at every position with top notch players. We don’t have the money nor the persuasive ability to pull that off without a bout of tremendous luck.

Majority of our funds need to go to a few top players. We then can moneyball around them.

Some of y’all are insufferable whiners.

Beyond the top 10 there’s usually not a difference in talent between 25-100.

Recruiting rankings are worthless anyway. Sasha Killeya Jones was a 5 star. Chuck Hayes wasn’t ranked. Quade Green was a 5 star. The guy recruited to sit behind him and “develop” is the reigning NBA MVP and a world champion.
But this guy is ranked #109! So maybe there is a talent difference from the top 25-100! 🤣

"Cheap" for the Dope is unfortunately $3M with an incentive for another $1M if you write your feelings down in a journal everyday and take 15 minutes a day to commune with nature.

"Kentucky lands 3* center, Grandma to take over as head of dining hall services"
You know this board would find the 1 3 star out of 1000 to end up with a decent NBA career and call that recruit the next coming of Wemby

And on that same note, I vivdly remember this board finding 100 reasons why Wemby was a bust. Just LMAO
