Just want to point out that changing a team’s name isn’t “erasing history.”

Yes it does erase history.

That’s why we’ve shut down Christoper Columbus
That’s why I have no idea what are Indians and Redskins
Does anyone really know what an Eskimo is these days

OUr minds have been completely whitewashed

Heavy sarcasm here

These folks seem a bit nutty. The biggest issue with 'Redskins' or 'Indians' is that it's too broad in scope - for every Native group (NAGA) who supports the names/logos there are others who don't (National Congress of American Indians). The best way to use a Native name IMO is to be specific (Seminole, Sioux, Apache, etc.) and get an agreement or approval from said Tribe/Nation. I still think some of the best logos in sports were/are Native - Redskins (terrible name, outstanding logo), Illini, Indians (their logo was terrible but their uniforms were terrific). There are still the Blackhawks, Chiefs, and Braves out there too. Either way, I don't see Washington going back to Redskins.

As an Illinois grad, I miss the Chief. 😞

I had a Native American studies class my senior year at PSU. I remember much more from that class than I do from classes for my major.

Funny how that works. My own favorite class at Penn State was Organic Chem. I failed it the first time (goofed off) then buckled down and really got into it.

On a similar note for me, I remember all my friends telling me how much harder OChem was compared to regular Chem. I barely got a C in Chem (lazy/slacked off as a 1st semester fresh) and then got an A in Ochem and was tutoring kids in my class.

Historically, there was a heavy Native American presence in the area where I grew up and we would find arrowheads while farming every so often. That drew my interest as a kid and sparked a curiosity to take the class as an elective.

Oh, yeah, Lenape tribe in my area. Neshaminy is a Native word.

Did your class touch on the local Tudek Site or Houserville Site? I believe most of the actual site research was done in the 70s & 80s. The Tudek site is wedged in between football parking fields and the Houserville site is just down the road.

Not sure? As I said it was my senior year so I called off drunk a lot and went to the Cafe or Skeller for a liquid lunch. 🤷‍♂️

Sure we can erase history. We can also re-write history to fit our needs. We should write how naming the team The Redskins was "good for them and gave them something to be proud of."

 ;)

Do the Irish approve of Notre Dame mocking them as aggressive little white people?

Since a petition was initiated to reinstate the Redskin name to Washington can they piggyback Cleveland on this same petition? Please drop the painful and ever so unpopular name "Guardians" as I believe the people of Cleveland have suffered enough. Bring back to the Cleveland Indians (minus the logo).

Until they straighten out the so-called Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the people of Cleveland have NOT suffered nearly enough.

OChem is a subject that either really clicks or is a complete miss. Not many in the middle

This is an interesting twist. If there’s support for it, go back to the iconic name. Did Native Americans demand that they change the name, or was it some woke people?

My dad used to tell us that the Eagles were originally called the Frankford Yellow Jackets, and how bunches of people were pissed about the name change to Eagles.
Turns out that wasn’t the case, but if they had kept the same name they could have claimed the 1926 NFL Championship. 😁

Lol, it’s not the name, it’s Danny Snyder the ******* ******* selling the team.

I don’t know just how well the non-WFT fans understand this: Dan Snyder is a ******* *******, a truly horrible person, a total POS.
