How much of that is a chicken or the egg thing? Before 2010 (or so), the A’s had a great deal more success in the past 25 years.
Hell, I’d say going back 40 years with those powerhouse 70s teams.
The Giants had the benefit of 1) being in SF proper which is wealthier and a bigger fan base and 2) better owners who really invested (with the city) in a first rate ballpark and game experience.
Those things make a big difference over the long haul. They contributed to the gradual decay that is the current A’s situation.
