“Penn State Shenango to launch baseball program in 2023-24 academic year”

One of my friends from college eventually became the athletic Director at a small Division III school about 15 years ago. One of the branch campuses athletic Director position opened up around 10 years ago and he interviewed. I remember him telling me that the primary focus of his interview was asking him what sports he felt comfortable trying to add to their program and how he could maintain them as a way to increase enrollment. He ultimately did not take the position but I wonder if this is a way for shenango to try and increase enrollment a little bit. Are they adding other sports?
Funny story… back in the 70’s my ex brother in law went to Penn State Capital Campus for junior and senior year and was a starter on their baseball team. Flash forward to the 1990’s and he has football season tickets. He calls the nittany lion club to see if he can get points for his “varsity” experience for starting for two years. The person he spoke to responded with: “Mr. ‘So-and-so’, that would have been a club team, wouldn’t it”? Followed by awkward silence.
