It's been 10 years to the week when Mississippi State was ranked #1 in the AP and the Coaches poll for the first time in our history

What a rise from starting the season unranked to beating Top-10 (at the time) LSU, A&M and Auburn in back to back to back weeks and getting ranked #1 on Oct 12th 2014. It was such an exhilarating time for all State fans.

Thank you Mullen and staff, Dak and the whole team for making us proud. Sure, the season fizzled after the loss at Alabama, but we will always have those few weeks where we ruled college football.

I don't know if we will ever be ranked #1. However we have been in that situation a few years before 2014.

1981, we were ranked 7 and Bama 8. When we went to Tuscaloosa and lost. If we win that game......

1999 we were undefeated going to Tuscaloosa and ranked #8.

2012 we were undefeated and ranked 11.

State get back into the top 10 again one day with an opportunity to rise. Will State continue to win, with all the chips on the table, is another question.

Basically all of our dreams have died in Tuscaloosa. That's one of the few good things to come out of the new era of college sports, we don't have to play them all the time anymore. Saban or no Saban.

Some dreams have died in Starkville at their hands. I remember in 1994, State put a guide to the SEC Championship broucher in the game day program.

It was a heavy weight battle but Bama prevailed.

1992 & 1994 Both teams were 7-2 coming into the Bama game '92 team lost to Bama, Mississippi, & to UNC in the Peach Bowl to finish 7-5. '94 team lost to Bama, beat Mississippi, then lost to NCST in the Peach Bowl to finish 8-4. Two promising years that fizzled in the end
