Game #1: Lost to Ole Miss 21-0 (09.23.72)
Game #2: Lost to Miami (OH) 13-11 (09.29.73)
Game #3: Lost to LSU 33-29 (10.27.73)

Those three games stand out because I was very young ... started attending later when I was older and moved back to SC ... the highlight for me was Jeff Grantz ... a great athlete that also played SS on the baseball team ... I've been fortunate to see some great games (with SOS at the helm mostly, but some with Lou) ... and some with other coaches ... life is good - Peace!

First game Freshman year 1996, the Brad Scott days. We beat UGA at home at night. I think the score was 23-14. Duce Staley had a stellar game.
This game was great. Remember how loud it was that night. Duce was great. Remember we wore all garnet like the old days. It might have been the first time seeing that look in person for me.

I admit I had to look it up. I knew it was App St, but had no idea the year. 1985, App St. The Sparky Woods days. And a pretty unimpressive 20-13 victory. Our church would buy tickets for the young boys for an occasional stinker game for USC, clemson and Furman. I enjoyed them all. I must admit I wasn't really a football fan until the early 90s.
‘85 would’ve been the Joe Morrison days. Sparky wouldn’t come for a few more years.

We then proceeded to wear it against E.Carolina & Miss State the next 2 weeks & ruined it by inexplicably losing both of those games. That was the infamous E.Carolina rain 14" game.

George Rogers' Junior year!
I was hooked after that game thanks to my cousin Mickey who had just graduated law school. He had just started getting season tickets! Been a wild ride ever since that day.

‘84 Gator Bowl vs. Ok. State. Was with my Dad and my pastor. Dad warned me to cut the cursing before game began (irony that I’m a pastor now!). Lost 21-14 in an entertaining, but frustrating game. Vivid memory was wolfing down 2 hot dogs right before game - more than my 12-yr. old constitution could handle. Paid for it and almost missed kickoff!

Born in 1988 but sadly my first game was not until the 2006 FAU game where Sidney Rice had something like 4-5 TDs and broke a record.

Coach JoMo was the coach in 1985. Sparky Woods came in 1989 after Coach passed away from a Heart Attack on the racquetball court.

2011 against ECU in Charlotte.
SC won 56-37.
Connor Shaw's first start.
Clowney's debut.
Most vivid memory was Antonio Allen's scoop and score in the 3rd quarter.

Best part of that game. Volume must be on.

UNC with my dad 1969. I believe we did win. We won the ACC Conference that year

Way back in the day there was a freshman USC team called the Biddies. In 1966, I think it was, I saw them play the Furman freshman in the old Sirrine stadium. My first USC game experience. Little Tommy Suggs was the qb and he was surrounded by some talent. It was Dietzel's first recruiting class. I had seen Suggs in the Shrine Bowl in Charlotte the previous fall. A few weeks later I saw Suggs again as we played the Clemson frosh in Clemson. We won and Suggs led us to victory over Clemson for the next 3 years. I saw one of those games. That's the reason I'm willing to cut Suggs some slack in the booth. Besides, He's old like me.

I was 9, so I don't vividly remember many game aspects other than Bethea catching a bomb from Ellis to score in the south endzone right where I was sitting. I do recall the students sitting in in the southeast portion of the stadium & the band playing that "we're gonna beat the hell outta you" song they used to play a good bit back then.
Clemson vs SC 1959. My team was victorious. I was a Clemson fan then and they won 27-0. It was Big Thursday and some of my friends and I skipped school and drove to Columbia. Not a single one of us had a ticket.

My Junior year at South Carolina...September 16th, 1978. We played Kentucky in a 14-14 tie. At my age now (44 years later), just snapshot images of the game and no particular memories that stand out anymore.

First game was 1996, I was around 5 so I don’t remembered who we played. My dad took me. I remember it raining and I got a white gamecock poncho.

2009 Florida Atlantic was my first game after that as a freshman.

Next game was Ole Miss of 2009 and I remember that one. Sandstorm at every timeout in the 4th. I almost missed it because I had a paper due the next day and it was a Thursday game. Glad I didn’t skip it.

Looking for some help on recollection due to memory issues due to health related.

Alabama ranked #1 was a fun one. I also remember (not the year if anyone could help here) when we beat UGA and my brother helped tear down the goal post the students then carried it to 5 pts and it was put in a bar.
Another ....
I don't remember the exact game but a memory I have is one time in the 90s as kid I remember it was pouring like crazy, rain, thunder, and lightning. I'm sure others have vivid memories of this game. I grew up my Dad taking me to all the home games. I remember it being such a bad storm we were trying to walk back from the stadium to the then boy scouts lot which you had to walk the tracks. I was so so scared with the lightning.

I'm sad I don't remember the exact games, and unfortunately have had brain radiation which has messed with my memory. Does anyone know what game this was? I would say somewhere between 95-99 if I had to guess.

And the UGA one. I remember them carrying it up Assembly Street. I tore some of the bush as it was shredded after. Obviously, prior to goal posts that automatically go down. I would love to write these down and have a place to keep them.

Lastly, Connor Shaw and beating Clemson and making it on ESPN was a fun one too. I know you asked for first but just went off my favorites.

When we beat #1 Alabama was 2010.
The UGa goal post game was 2000.
The pouring rain game in the 90s was either '95 KY (day game) or '96 E.Carolina (night game).
Shaw whipped Tillman in both 2011 & 2013.

Duke - 1968.

Suggs was the quarterback, Muir was the fullback. Benny Galloway was a heralded running back but he brought a bum knee with him from Easley and he was never whole. Freddy Ziegler was a great receiver - a Raymond Berry type.

We lost to Duke 14-7 on our way to a 4-6 record. The third game was against Georgia at home, a game we led 20-0 at halftime (if I recall correctly) before succumbing 21-20.

Dooley replaced Mike Cavan, their vaunted quarterback, after the half and they won behind a boy named Ray from Eau Claire High School. It was a real kick in the nuts and was probably the defining game of 1968.

We did, however, beat UPC up there to close the season, however. Score was 7-3 with not a single offensive touchdown scored in the game. Our points came on a late punt return for a TD scored by Tyler Hellams from Greenwood.

1976 Notre Dame vs sc at WB. HS senior recruit, already committed to play at UNC and NCState. Recruited by ND. Was on field at halftime and met President Ford. ND won 13 to 6. I committed to SC. Great decision. I ended up blocking for George.

What's the story here? I'm unfamiliar with this. Was he in town campaigning?

1977 vs Duke. Gamecocks jumped out to a 21 - 3 lead only to see Duke comeback and lead 25-21 late. Duke running backed fumbled late in the game and Williams Brice went crazy as a gamecock scooped it up and headed toward the end zone where I was sitting. Everyone except me Apparently I was the only one in the stadium that day that knew the defense could not advance a fumble in those days 😂. Gamecocks lost 25-21. Still have the program and tix stub

Same crap happened to us late in the '86 UGa game. Was a horrible rule!
