Zack Steffen’s howler in the FA Cup today further solidified my hope that we see Turner in Qatar.

Oh man, that was rough. I think he needs to leave City. He needs to be playing regularly leading into the World Cup, whether he's the starter or not. That was hard to watch.

Newcastle with a header for the win in the last few seconds of stoppage time. Newcastle over Leicester City, 2-1. In the below video of the goal, you can also see a mugging by a Leicester City player, but the ref gave advantage and allowed play to continue.

A few months ago, Newcastle was at the bottom of the table. Now they seem safe from relegation and actually much closer to the top 10 than bottom three. I can’t wait to see what happens in the summer.

I also like what Jesse Marsch has done at Leeds (3-1-1) in his last 5. If they can get something out of that Crystal Palace before City, Arsenal, and Chelsea....they should be in a good spot to stay up.

I think the bottom three right now are the three going down.

A little more on Newcastle. Here is the table as it looked on November 30th.

Here is the table with just 2022 matches included:

Master class occurring at Anfield today. NFM.
Liverpool 4-0 Man U. It probably was a fun match to watch. Blowouts are more entertaining in soccer than in any other sport, from my pov. The thing about soccer blowouts in league competition, goal differential is the first tiebreaker so teams tend to fight to the end.

First half was just insanely dominant. MU has nothing left out there and they have folded. They should have lost to Norwich or at least Norwich should have drawn with them. Too much dead weight at MU or injured weight, but it's annual with Pogba. Varane hasn't even really participated this season. You guys are lucky 50 year old Mata wasn't out there....thank goodness they keep him on the roster every year to not play. Second goal was a thing of beauty. Congrats to you...f--k off to the Glov. :p

I used to love watching Mata play. Is he really that cooked at 33?

Yeah, he's being groomed to be a coach. IMO, he should do a victory tour in Miami for the MLS....then jump into coaching. The midfield is absolutely a hot mess and he cannot even get on the pitch. Rashford needs to go, he's done mentally. He's also vastly overrated. He's awful with the ball at his feet, is an absolute pu$$y in the air, and either tries to meg people or push it by them....and it's no secret to anyone anymore. He needs to go. Pogba is a huge waste of money and cannot stay healthy in the EPL...go back to Italy or PSG and play with the other girls. Mata and Matic need to be retired. Fred was our best midfielder last month before his injury....and he was by far....that isn't such a great thing if you have watched Fed play. I feel bad for Degea as the midfield is awful, cannot break the press and the backs simply are under the gun all game long. Maybe the new coach and turnover can help things, but as it stands this is a middle of the table club only due to some of the talent like Bruno or Ronaldo. The rest of it just isn't there.

The pass by Mane to Salah for the second goal is ridiculous.

I expect Chelsea to beat Arsenal. Gee, the Gunners suck right now.

Edit: this match is being shown on USA Network.

2-1, Arsenal, in the 30th minute. I’m not the numbers guy, but I think that means Arsenal is winning. 🤔

Newcastle won again - their sixth win in a row in home matches. Once thought to be headed towards relegation, NUFC is all but certainly safe. Burnley would need to win more games in their remaining seven than they’ve won in their first 31 to pass NU. And that assumes Newcastle doesn’t continue its winning ways.
