How do you confirm unofficially?Well, these rumors are true. The Fisher story has been confirmed unofficially on both the Penn State and Pitt sides.
Pitt just announced that Dan Fisher has signed a new contract. Good for him. Where do Sandy/Lauren stand with Plan B? I guess we'll find out sometime next week.
Jesus wept ! Barbour really has trouble doing much that makes us appear in any way capable or relevant.
So how many offers have fallen through or not been extended to good, young candidates who might have accepted and made Penn State look competent ?
Salima to ND, Fawcett to OSU as ***’t. Coach, and it sure appears as if Fisher was just “using” us as leverage with Pitt.
Time to pull the trigger on offers to Alyssa D’Errico at Dayton, or Kirsten Booth at Creighton, or Kelli Phillips at Ball State.
The clock is ticking and current players at PSU, possible portal transfers, and possible recruits need some resolution.
It means it is true, but nobody at Pitt or Penn State will publicly acknowledge it.How do you confirm unofficially?
The latest rumor is panic in the AD's office. It looks like it is on to Plan B. Don't be surprised if someone on the current staff is named early next week.Next man (or woman) up. Who are the rumors suggesting now?
Well, the upside of Fisher using the PSU offer to rob the Pitt athletic budget is that less of the meager money their football program generates, in comparison to P5 teams that actually have fans attend their game (and those fans actually having to ante up of the privilege to buy those tickets...) will be left over for Duzzy to use to recruit all those 2 star players he likes....
Right. But many times there is at least some good in a bad situation......This is not a Pitt obsession thread, Greg.
Like I said, PSU volleyball is on life support and this next hire will signal which way this program goes. It is indeed scary. That a coach at Pitt used PSU as leverage is telling . . . and Pitt just signs a 6-5 outside hitter that was a PAC-12 all freshmen team selection. PSU - crickets. The latest rumor is panic in the AD's office. It looks like it is on to Plan B. Don't be surprised if someone on the current staff is named early next week.
I know you are being facetious, but she most assuredly does not have this. RR was not looking forward to the new age of NIL and was clearly going to leave. They had time to plan and create a solid target list. They failed and now being turned down by their initial contacts casts PSU in a bad light nationally to the point where everyone thinks something must be wrong in State College. Finding the right coach for this storied program just became a lot more difficult.Sandy’s got this.

She's a professor at MIT. She's a terrific representative of Russ's program and Penn State. But she's never coached, IIRC, at least not at any time in the recent past. She would certainly be an out-of-the-box hire, too far out-of-the-box, one with a low probability of success. When asked if she was interested, she said nothing and just reacted this way which, to me, suggests she's waiting for a "show me the money" offer:

Probably the same reaction as if she had been asked about flying the next space shuttle. I hope we are focusing on someone from the volleyball coaching world and not reaching for just anyone at this point. It would be nice to get a coach who has recruited, run a top 20 program, understands the modern game, has connections with the numerous high level club volleyball organizations, and is recognizable to the next generation of college players. When asked if she was interested, she said nothing and just reacted this way which, to me, suggests she's waiting for a "show me the money" offer:

Definitely makes you wonder. The tourney streak is in serious jeopardy and it's likely an uphill battle to qualify. The program is at a major crossroads right now and the Big 10 is so good as a whole I fear PSU could very quickly fall into obscurity if coach Katie doesn't excel, particularly on the recruiting trail. We will finish in the bottom 3rd of the conference next year and will miss the tournament for the first time, makes me sick to my stomach. The timing of the whole Russ Rose retirement announcement, player portal entries and departures has me thinking that there were/are some serious internal issues within the women's program that we don't know about.
The recruiting for next year has been done for quite some time. Serious contenders are recruiting for two years out and more. Unless we pull a few rabbits out of the portal hat in the next few weeks next year will be a historically bad one for PSU. In hindsight it is easy to understand how the Pitt coach used PSU as leverage. Does he stay with a final four team or does he take on a complete rebuild in State College. Five years ago such a scenario would have been unfathomable.Definitely makes you wonder. The tourney streak is in serious jeopardy and it's likely an uphill battle to qualify. Great news, it's a start..KSC and staff just landed a promising portal transfer, 6'0" OH Kashauna Williams from Long Beach State. A Los Angeles native whom Penn State tried to recruit when she was a high school senior, Williams earned first-team All-Big West honors this past season, her third for LBSU. She'll take her fourth season of eligibility this coming fall to pursue grad courses at Penn State. Williams's Instagram post seems to indicate that she won't be interested in playing college volleyball a fifth year. Appears to be an excellent pickup for the Nittany Lions.
