After that it is for 3rd place then right?UM -Parris
Perfect. Win that one and barring a total PSU collapse, the title should be essentially locked up.UM -Parris
That is strange because kerk was in top bracket and faces winner in consis in lower bracket. They are flipped. That is strange. Let’s hope kerk can take parris one more time!! Would get wood probably in 3rd place round then. Who does he wrestle first.Yes.
I felt the same. Last year's match was similar. Hidlay like to work the edge so Brooks does not have room to finish. Should have been more than 1 stall call on Hidlay. Is it just me or did Brooks dominate that entire match and it was kind of ridiculous it went to OT. The other kid did nothing most of the match and took advantage at the end. If Brooks had lost it would I would have been pretty upset.

Yes, need those points and none for UMAfter that it is for 3rd place then right?
You always cross-bracket to the consolation semi-finals, at least every tournament I've ever wrestled in, coached in, etc. Since Kirk was up top, he crosses down to the bottom consolation bracket.Ironhead was also baffled. In the wrap-up to to Session 4, he said that Kerk would wrestle Lucas Davison (NW) in the Consolation Semi. Track has Kerk wrestling Parris, and PSU Wrestling's write-up on GoPSUsports.com has Kerk wrestling Parris.
It’s always that way. Every bracket is the same, you flip sides when you go down so you don’t wrestle the same guys again right away. That is strange because kerk was in top bracket and faces winner in consis in lower bracket. Be careful. Rivera = Witvoet. I don’t want to see Angel anywhere near RBY on Saturday.Okay - we have 108 points/146.5 max.
UM has 85.5/131.5 max.
So let's convert this to football...
Are we up 13 half way through the 4th quarter?
Baseball is a better comparison -- think the Magic Number to clinch the playoffs, at the end of the regular season.Okay - we have 108 points/146.5 max.

If Michigan wins out with no bonus, they lose 20 bonus points, magic number 3. Leaves zero room for error. Like PSU odds.Baseball is a better comparison -- think the Magic Number to clinch the playoffs, at the end of the regular season.
There's a pretty good chance that PSU clinches in Session 5 -- here's the math:
PSU’s Magic Number = 23.0 to win outright. That's any combination of PSU placement points, PSU bonus points, Michigan failing to score placement points, and Michigan failing to score bonus points.
Michigan has 4 wrestlers in consi semis (Lewan, Amine, Massa, Parris).
For each of them, the Magic Number could be reduced by as much as 8.0 pts, as follows:
- Finish 3rd: Magic Number reduced by bonus points lost (0.5 to 4.0 pts)
- Finish 4th: Magic Number reduced by 1.0 + bonus points lost
- Finish 5th: Magic Number reduced by 3.0 + bonus points lost
- Finish 6th: Magic Number reduced by 4.0 + bonus points lost
Additionally, PSU has 1 wrestler in consi semis (Kerk). He could cut the Magic Number by as much as 8.0 pts:
- Finish 3rd: Magic Number reduced by 4.0 + bonus points gained (0.5 to 4.0)
- Finish 4th: Magic Number reduced by 3.0 + bonus points gained
- Finish 5th: Magic Number reduced by 1.0 + bonus points gained
- Finish 6th: No change to Magic Number
If Lewan and Parris finish 5th, Amine 4th, Massa 3rd, Kerk 3rd, all with no bonus -- then the Magic Number drops by 27.0 out of a needed 23.0 pts --> PSU clinches tomorrow morning.
IMO that's a little generous toward Michigan. I would pick Hamiti (though he's never faced Lewan). And Kemerer beat Massa this year -- this obviously depends on his shoulder, but it is the first match of the day.
Yea if you look at brackets it flips perhaps wanting all guys to try to wrestle each other in wrestle backs. Perhaps they assume that the top guys already beat the guys in same bracket in champ round and would do so again and that wouldn’t be fair.Ironhead was also baffled. In the wrap-up to to Session 4, he said that Kerk would wrestle Lucas Davison (NW) in the Consolation Semi. They do with wrestling too, coverage is so sketchy regarding PSU. The color guy last night was great, former Cowboy, 2X MMA Champ, he heaped praise on Cael talking about 4/6 Olympic champs train with him, how Cael trains with his guys, talked about how he spent 45 min rolling with Brooks.True, but in football espn considers that a Michigan win.
Damn @El Jefe thats what I’m talking about. Fantastic analysis. Gonna take the lab to the Gunpowder for some retrieving fun. Tonight will be a party!Baseball is a better comparison -- think the Magic Number to clinch the playoffs, at the end of the regular season.

OK, here is one guys REAL thoughts for these finals match-ups:PSU matches in the Finals (Session 6)
133: #1 seed Roman Bravo-Young vs. #2 seed Daton Fix (Okla. State)
141: #1 seed Nick Lee vs. #15 seed Kizhan Clarke (UNC)
174: #1 seed Carter Starocci vs. #2 seed Mekhi Lewis (VT)
184: #2 seed Aaron Brooks vs. #1 seed Myles Amine (Michigan)
197: #1 seed Max Dean vs. #6 seed Jacob Warner (Iowa)
I like your analysis the best. Luwan will finish 6th.If Michigan wins out with no bonus, they lose 20 bonus points, magic number 3. Leaves zero room for error. Like PSU odds.
I hadn't heard that. In 2018, an excited Bo Nickal threw his headgear after he pinned Myles Martin to win the championship. PSU was docked a team point which fortunately didn't matter. Hopefully PSU can win this year's team title by more than a point so thrown headgear won't be a story.Question, Myles Amine slung his head gear to his corner and Meatchicken was deducted a team point, would they have called that for Iowa? Throwing the headgear penalty is way less than what the Brands get away with.
Michigan wasn't docked for that. If you go to the Penn State Wrestling Club tournament site and add up the Michigan individual scores, it equals the Michigan team score of 84.5 pts.Question, Myles Amine slung his head gear to his corner and Meatchicken was deducted a team point, would they have called that for Iowa? Just ask Desmond HowardTrue, but in football espn considers that a Michigan win.
My funniest headgear memory was when an MSU wrestler threw his headgear in defeat during round 1. They never scored a point during the tournament & actually ended up with a team score of -1.I hadn't heard that.
