I see your point, but Malzhan's ingenious blocking schemes as related to the read-option play DEMAND a true double-threat quarterback who can analyze on the fly. Marshall was perfect.
There was a shifty dual threat qb at BC this past year who left the team mid seaon. (The coach wanted a drop back passer for his offense?)
The announcers were talking about ties to the Florida schools, and how they thought he would end up at FSU.

He's been talking to Norfolk State also, and he is from that area. Our family is watching this with interest since my grandson is the long snapper there.
Sacramento State has greater potential, but this is a guy who really hasn't coached. If I were Sacramento State, I'd want an experienced person leading my incursion into the FBS, or for that matter, as head coach in the FCS.
Serious question. How much more money can So. Miss really outspend a program like Marshall..
I don't pretend to know the real reason why he left, but I just don't see how USM can leave Marshall not able make a counter and better offer.
He is from the area, so a splash hire for sure.
