you have to like the work Stout has done ....but '“Right now, he's on the track to be (the starter),” Stoutland said. “I really like what he's doing. I really like his stuff. I know again it's individual stuff (until training camp), but we demand quickness, effort, straining. "
so that's why we went out and signed the guy from Cincinnati.
Scharping was signed for depth. Steen is the starter. Stout doesn't sugar coat anything and said Steen is the starter period. If he had concerns one of the guys the Eagles signed would be seeing time with the starters. Reason why Stout is the best oline coach in history. Steen will only get better from here on out. He has the body of a guard now the weight room and off season film study have him ready to go to the next level. This is very good news.
I do feel much better about Steen going into this season. By all accounts he has worked extremely hard this off season not just on his body but the mental part of the game. Stoutland doesn't throw around compliments easily. So to compare him to a HOF guard means he really feels good and see's improvement. I thought Steen had the body for OG vs. OT. He is extremely powerful. If Stout has hitched his wagon to him then so am I. We all saw what he has created in Mailata.
And an uber-experienced guard (relatively speaking) in Scharping is going to be a huge boost for both Steen and Lando. Keep in mind, Lando was a C in college, so there's not a wealth of positional experience there.
with or without college experience Lando is playing very well, he I do not have concerns about.
I dont' disagree. physical and cognitive abilities can take you a long way, but experience also matters
