Seeing some of the new contracts being signed, when do our guys want more ??
Carter, Smith and Davis are the next guys to worry about. Carter will reset the DT market so look at the Garrett deal as a barometer.

I think there’s a reason they’re going to trade Goedert. He likely wants big $. AJ is still top 5 ish for WR comp.

Kind of expected, but I still hate to see him depart. A rare situation where I wish Howie had signed him to an extension before the start of the season.

Note: Some other reports out there that Arizona is still in the running for Williams

Schefter is reporting that CB Isaiah Rodgers has reached agreement on a 2-year, $15M deal with the Vikings, with $8 guaranteed.

LOL, I just checked my computer before heading out the door, and saw that he was headed to New England. I was coming to post that, but you beat me to it. ;)

not so fast my friend, depending on who you talk to it may or may not be a done deal...

it sounds as though the Birds have designated him as a June release. So he's not free to sign. Also reports that the Birds have given him permission to try to work out a trade with the Steelers so they can obtain him before June.

WTH?! This is the first head scratcher of the offseason. CJ was a huge addition to the secondary last year. Is this because of the Slay comments?

It also seems to signify that Bekton is gone. This Guard would seemingly be a replacement on a rookie contract.
I am with you on this one. I understand they may need a RG or a backup but CJGJ was key for them IMHO last year since he came back. This move is definetly a surprise to me. I know Howie said to be patient this off season they do have a plan but things will take longer to come into focus this off season.

My issue is that CJ’s loss was a key factor to awful secondary play in 2023. He came back and they were among the best.

Why **** around with a strength?! There must be more to the story like CJ wanting more money or being a locker room issue.

I would hope there is more to the story then we have heard. I trust Howie he has a proven record and he asked everyone to be patient. So definetly makes me wonder what is up but only time will tell.

Yeah, this one caught me by surprise as well. CJGJ wasn't perfect, but he was better than what they had on the roster. Unless they add somebody, the options on the roster to replace him are:

- Sydney Brown
- Tristin McCollum
- Lewis Cine

Neither Brown nor McCollum had done anything to show that they are close to being able to compete at CJGJ's level.

He was on a 3-year deal, so you wouldn't need to worry about re-signing him until after the 2025 season.

On the flip side, they let him him leave one time, and now have traded him. It makes one wonder if there is something going on behind the scenes/in the locker room that causes them to feel they are better off without him.

On the other side of the trade, Kenyon Green had a lot of potential coming out of college, but he's not been too impressive in the NFL. He missed 2023 due to a shoulder injury. He got benched half-way through season this past season.

I guess we'll learn more in the future, but this is a move I didn't see coming.

I am guessing this has something to do with it 'On the flip side, they let him him leave one time, and now have traded him. It makes one wonder if there is something going on behind the scenes/in the locker room that causes them to feel they are better off without him."

OTOH the guy that traded for is @*Cking terrible! He may have a first round pedigree, but he sucks. I would have rather put up with CJ at this point than have that guy. Skeens or Driscoll are better than him.
I know everyone loves Stout, but if you want chicken salad, at least have him start with chicken.

I am thinking they think Sydney Brown is ready. Tristin McCollum is terrible hes the one that got beat in the Washington game

I am surprised we have not heard Bectons name yet, maybe he just wants to stay? Let's face it, another year like he had this year, he could get a huge contract.

I don't think Brown is ready. If I recall correctly, the bomb that Mahomes threw late in the Super Bowl (I think it was to Worthy), it was McCollum and Brown that were covering him, and neither of them did a good job on that. Both played a good bit on special teams in the Super Bowl, but I think each of them only played 2 snaps in the secondary -- I suspect that play brought an end to their playing.
