Why don't you hold your water until you see what the permanent scheduling model is going to look like? You do understand this is temporary, don't you? You do understand we have never had any leverage in this league, don't you?
You don't have to talk me off the ledge, King. I'm not going anywhere, regardless of the schedule.

Yes, I hate this schedule. Yes, this is temporary. Yes, a permanent schedule model will roll out at some point. And, yes, I realize we have no leverage. Knowing all of that, what, exactly, gives you optimism about that permanent scheduling model?

Models that have already been floated. Objectives that have to be met. We'll get some proximate opponents every year; we won't get all of them every year. No one is going to have everything they had.

Don't you still complain about not being in the ACC on here?
I complain about the ham-handed way we left the ACC and the 20 years that followed. I point out that we had true and bitter rivals in that league and do not have those in our current league, and probably never will have.

Ok, you have convinced me. I have put away the razor blades.

I haven't read any articles on the realignment, but I assume it will now just be one big conference with no East and West?
That is correct. This coming season will be the last having divisions in the SEC. Starting in 2024, it will be the two teams with the best conference records playing in Atlanta for the SEC Championship.

All this means nothing until we know our conference alignment. Show us what we are working with.
alignment? The only alignment is there will be no conference divisions. The two teams with the best SEC record will play for the championship

I used to complain but no more. The ACC seems to be a dead conference walking. I don't think we will ever have those "true and bitter rivals in that league" in the SEC.
Now I'm glad we aren't in the NC directed conference. If we had stayed in the ACC, we would never have gotten a SEC invitation and when it breaks up USC would have had to hat in hand to any meaningful conference which is what we did anyway practically begging the ACC to take us back in late 70s.

I don't have any problem with any of that, especially the part about never having true and bitter rivals in the SEC. It's not on the radar. We would have to import them.

IF we played every game like we did against UT and Clemsux to close out the season, that would start making some "bitter rivals". We don't necessarily have to win all of them but IF we played like that all the time, I believe that would earn the respect of teams and their fans.

It might happen someday, with a lot of good play. But it's hard to overcome the length of time that some of these great programs have been playing each other. Teams can only have so many bitter rivals: one primary and, at most, two secondary. Those spots are mostly already taken. Check back in maybe 50 years, or bring in UPC and/or UNC.
