There is no reason that every state in America shouldn’t have election results immediately in 2024. It’s insane that we take a week to count votes. I don’t know if there is election fraud or not, but the way we do it is stone age
Well yeah that's wild, but I wasn't considering that to be what the other poster referred to as 'problems'.

The slow results is seen as a feature by many traditionalists since the slow results are due to each state doing their own thing when it comes to elections.
We could certainly nationalize the election laws and processes...but at the same time, the gvt is on year 2 of even getting the fasfa process changed and that was a disastrous rollout, so I can't imagine how an election program would go!

Yea I’m not talking about his point. We have the technology to make this really easy and choose not to. Why is that? Who does this benefit? That’s a legit question. Why are we acting like a 3rd world country with vote counting

The popular vote is a big surprise to me.
It's a make my **** cheaper mandate. Good luck, Trump admin. I hope they are successful and held accountable the same sensitivities/context with respect to the global markets that the Biden admin was. I mean that seriously too. We should have high standards in the world's largest economy. I just hope they are consistently high and don't shift when a a promised shift of income taxes to tariffs is implemented.

Only question left is the House. It may be a week or 2 before we know, and that will determine whether Trump's legislative agenda passes or not.

I don't think there has ever been an election year before where the presidency, Senate, and House all flipped but not in the same direction.

Yeah, I think it's just the price you pay when you get such a late start on a campaign. Neither candidate really shot themselves in the foot too badly over the past 3-4 months….Trump just had the brand and recognition. Just another swing of the old pendulum…
Well everyone knew Biden was not home a year ago or more. Had opportunities over last two years to oust and do a primary to test a popular candidate. The dem brass chose to ride Biden popularity then swap for Kamala at the end. Bad decision it would appear unless Hail Mary comes out of Fulton county and Allegheny and Milwaukee

Republicans gain control of senate.
Makes John Boozman from Arkansas the Senate Ag Chair

I’m hearing if the house flips there’s a possibility that Bennie Thompson because House Ag Chair.

Still hearing Keenum is on the list for Sec of Ag. The list has gotten smaller as well.

Haven't looked at the house projections. Could it still flip? Wouldn't think so given POTUS election.

Yep. Just a ton of laziness from both parties, repeatedly. The last 3 presidential elections have felt like watching the MSU-Auburn 3-2 game on repeat. Yeah, somebody has to not lose each time. But its still just painful to watch….no matter who you root for.

Going back to the electoral college, that’s my biggest gripe with it. Lazy candidate nominations, half-*** campaigns with rehashed talking points in very geographically specific areas of the country. No fresh or new ideas from either side that could distract or lose the attention of the “base”. You go to a popular vote system, and it demands a lot more accountability from these 17wads on both sides of the aisle to put someone forward with real vision.

Florida counted all their votes before 9:00 PM. You want NPV? Let’s make every state do it like them first and then we’ll talk.

He’s gonna win the NPV too though, so it’s not gonna matter.

After the 2000 debacle Florida said “let’s get our shít together”. Most streamlined polling in the country.

Definitely sounds like a good system. I’m on board.

Can’t speak for everyone, but my preference of the NPV over the electoral college has nothing to do with who wins. Its just the most fair and equitable system for the voters regardless, as well as the system that holds the candidates the most accountable to the entire electorate. And I think tonight proves that they aren’t as far apart as people realize, anyway.

Who TF thought the margin in New Jersey would be 6%? If you told me that yesterday, I'd have said the race would be called before my kids' bedtime.

Yes every state needs to copy Florida but some states don't want to institute a lot of the rules they have either

that's pretty wild but she was not a popular candidate no matter what main stream media tried to push. There was a reason she didn't do well in primaries in 2020. They should have kicked Biden out two years ago and started open the primary race to let someone come to the top. But the brass decided to ride Biden to almost to end and switch. Just dumb.
