His accomplishments at Baylor the last 13 years ( 1cws, 3 supers, 9 regionals) are less than the last 13 at MSU( 3 cws, 3 supers, 12 regionals). Also Baylor is only 25-20 this year. I don't get the Steve Smith hype other than he isn't Raffo.

to compare state and baylor straight up in an effort to show what kind of coach steve smith is.

Over the last 8 years, ole miss has been 3 supers and no CWS and state has been to 3 supers and 1 CWS....but I doubt anyone would question Bianco's ablity to run a program.

The only reason I came to school at State was to sit in right field and watch baseball. Not for the women, not for Landscape Architecture, not for my future. I came to watch baseball. If Raffo gets the job im dropping out of school.

I definitely realize that there are better and more proven coaches out there than Cohen, and I understand that people like to question Cohen on what has he done in postseason play. The fact is that there alot of people that are forgetting that UK has ALWAYS been the doormat of SEC baseball. It is by far the hardest school for a coach to recruit to and compete in the SEC and Cohen has done a very impressive job recruiting and coaching at UK. He knows that MSU can be one of the top 4 teams in the SEC every year and has unlimited potential. This is his best chance to win the CWS, and he is very aware of this fact.

Have heard that Steve Smith wants the job really bad.

I know that I have come across as only wanting Cohen, but I really feel that we will not get a high profile coach. I could be wrong and would welcome numerous proven coaches to MSU. With that said I truly believe that Cohen will get the job done as good or better than any coach in the nation. The job that he has done at UK is unbelievable if you stop and think about UK baseball.

edit: Really anyone other than Raffo and I can't complain.
I feel like we do have some talent on this team other than the pitching staff, and who knows maybe a new pitching coach can work a small miracle. And by small miracle, I mean a staff era under 5.00 next year.

he wouldn't apply for the job. Even he has to know he isn't qualified.

</p>it's his only chance to possibly stay. The only thing that he can hope happens is that a bunch of people turn the job down and he gets the job by default. After everything that has happened though, you would have to believe that there would be somewhat of a rift between him and Byrne. Not to mention the fact that he wouldn't have the support of a majority of the fans. Polk has ruined any chance that he would possibly stay on as an assistant by "blessing" him as his annointed successor, because then there probably would be a lot of tension between Raffo and whoever the new coach is.

I have this feeling that Raffo is either going to be the hitting coach at Bishop Kenny HS next year, or he's going to be working in the "promotions" dept for some cigar boy playing golf with customers and giving the cigar boys kid free baseball lessons on the weekend.

I would sure agree with that. To me Cohen would be many miles better than Raffo. I just hope we can get someone with a national championship. I personally like Mike Kinnison. People have made a big deal about him not being a Div 1 coach, but to me once you get past junior high, coaching is coaching. He has two national titles against competition about equal to his teams as far as opportunity goes. In other words I don't see him having any advantage over the schools they play accept the advantages that come with winning big.
