UT posted a video of Sarkisian and said "Just getting started". Sarkisian re-tweeted it with the "horns up" emoji, taken to mean he's bowing out of the Bama search.

It's being widely rumored that Swinney was contacted yesterday or this morning and declined to interview. He does currently lead the Vegas odds to be their next coach, though.

As with all the info so far, nothing is confirmed.

Looks like they are now zeroing on Deboer. UW will sure fight like heck to keep him. His salary is currently $4.2 million. One way or another, he's getting a massive raise.

So....we're not the only ones who miss their targets??

haha, not all targets are created equal. Bama is starting with the top coaches in the game and will most likely end up with one of them. The top coaches in the game wouldn't even let their executive assistant's executive assistant take our calls.

It's all relative. The fact remains they are on like plan E by now. Everyone assumed Bama would be able to make a phone call and have Saban replaced within 24 hours. We love to eat our own around here. But the fact is that coaching searches RARELY go smoothly...UT, AU, LSU, now Bama. It's a very messy process.

It's very rare for a coach to accept when offered or socialized to them. Lots of negotiations etc before accepting.

I truly believe these guys aren't interested. That said, it wouldn't totally surprise me if one if these guys ends up their head coach.

So if we're to believe everything we've seen so far, DeBoer is the last on left right?? Holy hell if it ends up being Rees there are going to be riots in the streets of Tusc.

Hard to tell. We have no confirmation they actually offered or even contacted Lanning, Norvell, Swinney or Sarkisian.

Yeah, just saying that's all the names that have been mentioned. Is this going to end up like Harsin at AU??

I can't imagine that. I do think that Alabama is a victim of their success in some ways. Who really wants to follow a 6-time championship coach?

That said, for all I know, Deboer was their #1 target all along he night end up the coach.

They could always go for the sizzle and pick up Deion, as Stephen A says.

Just curious, does Sarkisian's video confirm that he was offered the job and turned it down? Or, do the "favorites" use this as an opportunity to promote themselves and their programs. That is, the video suggests that he turned down an opportunity, but is their any evidence that he was offered the job.

Yeah, nobody knows. The general public and media presumed he'd be a potential candidate based on the ties but zero way of knowing if he was ever contacted. At the least, the social media posts are his and UT's way of responding to the chatter.

That's true. Could have all be sorcery by Sexton.

We don't know for sure who the genuine targets are. We don't know whom Alabama has seriously approached. All a guy needs to do, one his name is breathed as a possibility, is to issue a statement that he's happy where he is and not going anyplace. It makes him look important whether he was ever an active candidate or not. The other side of it is that a man who is in a good situation would be a fool to take this dang job at this particular time.

haha, yep. Sexton is the winner in all this.

Worked for Norvell. Deboer is his client as well. Dabo, Lanning and Sarkisian as well...

It seriously makes you wonder the amount of chess Sexton is playing in all of this. He represents all the guys at the top of the list and can play them all against each other and Alabama and their current programs. All he cares about is the bottom line. If they can make more at Alabama, great. If he can work it, so they make more at their current school, great.

One one person will get hired, yet about a half a dozen coaches will get pay increases for doing nothing (staying put).
