40 unanswered vs. Auburn

Sorry if this is Germans, but has an MSU team ever done this in an SEC game?? Seems pretty rare, especially on the road vs a quality opponent.

Probably has not happened often but I bet we have probably done it against vandy at some point. We beat the **** out of Arkansas a couple years during Mullen’s tenure that maybe 40 unanswered happened

I believe 1999 Matt W brought Miss State back to be Auburn at Auburn. I think Auburn was up 18 to 0 and it was a 4th quarter comeback. Might be wrong year.

It was 16-3 when Matt came in and engineered an amazing 4th quarter comeback. Also, Saturday was the largest comeback in school history. So not quite the same but the 99 team wasn't built for scoring

Admittedly not an SEC team, but MSU played Florida State in Starkville in 1978. FSU was ranked 15 coming in to the game (Bowden's 3rd season). MSU scored the first 14 points, but FSU added three quick scores to take a 21-14 lead at the half. In the second half, MSU outscored FSU 41-6 to win 55-27. Can't find a box score, so I'm not sure when FSU scored their last 6 points, but a 41 point second half for MSU is notable.

FSU went 8-3 that year with close losses to Houston (6 pts) and Pittsburgh (4 pts) and wins over Florida, Miami, and Oklahoma State, so they weren't bad.

Not sure if you consider Vandy an SEC team but we beat them 51-0 in 2014. It was 37-0 at halftime.

It was 40 unanswered after getting down by 25. That is unheard of. Also took place without any takeaways on either side. We did get a TO on downs off a fake punt and a blocked FG in the sequence.
