So we'll come back to WB on 11/4 to start a stretch of 4 home games to end the season. The specter of bowl eligibility will still be dangling on the horizon with no games that will likely be considered unwinnable.
It seemingly starts easily enough with what was penciled in by most as a lock win for us, with Jacksonville State. However, I've seen a couple of their mid-week games this year, and I'm not sleeping on them. They aren't terrible. Also not sleeping on Vandy. They are pretty bad, but so are we. On paper, we should win these games on talent, but it would not be stunning if we lost either one.
UK looked unwinnable a few weeks ago, but it's still hard to say exactly what UK is this year. They trounced UF at home. Then they got trounced by UGA in their easiest SEC win of the year so far. We'll find out more about UK as they play UT, MSU and Bama before they come to WB. Still have to say we lose this one, but wouldn't say it's a lock.
As bad as we've been this year and as good as Clemson has been in recent years, we'd normally pencil this one in as a lock to lose. But their new offense under Riley is only putting up 24.5 ppg. Their D is still pretty good, though, allowing only 21.2 ppg. With their disappointing season and if they lose another game or two, we could catch them unmotivated and steal it at WB.
All that to say, who knows? It would almost be a mockery of the system if a team as bad as we are managed to scratch out 6 wins and got a bowl game. But, I suppose if you end a season like this one with 6 wins and a win over Clemson, you take it with a smile on your face.
My official prediction is 4-8, which is what I predicted pre-season if we lost to UNC. But we could get to 6 wins...........
