65 years ago today Old Main burned

I first learned about it from a survivor of the fire. He was hospitalized and has burn scars on his head and feet to this day. He knew both the suspect and the deceased. He was called out of class and interviewed by the police after the murder in Columbus. He believed that it was arson to cover the murder. And in his mind there is little doubt.

There were evidently witnesses that saw the guy who died outside the building after the fire started, and then saw him go back in to get something. That's what my Dad always told me, same for the others I knew who were there.

My dad was living in Old Main at the time. He had been told the guy that died had gone back in to get some stereo equipment.
