Unfortunately, that is the nature of today's game. You will lose your quality depth players if they are upperclassmen. You cannot blame them, they have to do what's best for them and their families.

State has recruited well along the DL and I fully expect a couple of those new guys to contribute if needed.

Running the 3-3-5 obviously takes a little pressure off of the D line numbers, but it seems like we pretty much whiffed on D line recruiting in one of the recent classes, and losing guys like Odom and Cooley will give our depth a hit if nothing else. Hopefully we’re hitting the portal hard too

We only have 3 DL in this 3-3-5 system, so we aren't going to have a ton on those guys on the roster. And of the the 3, only one is a heavy type DT, the others are DLs or LB hybrids.

This is not a big loss.

If they are upperclassmen and not playing, it doesn't sound like there is much prospect of them doing much for their families in the future, if you are implying next level.

Nope...no big deal. Crumedy, Pickering and Charlton are eligible and could test the draft waters but its pretty obvious another year might help them a lot and they will play.osing them would hurt but they would be silly not to play another year and improve their draft stock
