After listening to Lamont's post-game, I'm comfortable that he's staying

He gave a lengthy answer about the building process here and said his goal all along was to BUILD something here instead of just "sprinkling magic fairy dust" and getting instant success. He said he could have done things to produce some instant results but you have no idea what the team will look like next year. In contrast, he said his goal was to build a house that you're going to live in. It was not his plan to just build something that only looked good and you could sell but to build something with a solid foundation that you would live in.

Reading too much into his answer, but his answer, which was off the cuff, sure gave the impression of a guy who's planning on being here for a while.

Bearing in mind the unpredictability of the transfer portal, who from this team do we expect to come back next year?

Good question and I have no idea. I can't imagine why anyone playing for Lamont would want to play for anyone else.

I think they'll all be back except BJ, Coop and shaggy. I'm sure we'll lose a few at the end of the bench. Of course I could be dead wrong but I think our core sticks around.

I said it before and I'll say it again. He wants to be here and he's planning to stick around. No doubt in my mind.

I’ve never been worried about him leaving….

I never have been particularly worried. For me, the lone cause for potential concern was the job at OSU, just because you never know about an individual's desire to "go home again".

Not losing much and if Meechie stays, look out. Ta'lon and Mack are substantial, but the class coming in is loaded with potential and still have guys developing. Exciting to say the least. Eli Ellis could be an immediate impact.

Coach Paris is not building a house. He is building a mansion. ;)

I could be wrong but the two coming in this summer/fall is Noah and one of the Finnish kids.

Summer/Fall of 2025 is when Ellis and Assemian arrive in Columbia.

Agree. Pay the man and keep him happy.
Not only you must pay but you must pay staff also. When you have success then the vultures will come after the staff. Never fails. You must pay Coach Paris and staff. Give social media guys pay raise too. They done a great job with South Carolina's men's basketball on X Twitter.

YOU MUST PAY

Eli Ellis is not coming next year unless he re-classes. He is in the 25 Class. We have a Big coming in that I believe played with Ugusuk and a wing from Kentucky. That's all for the freshman class of 24. The transfer portal will always be interesting and I am sure Paris will be in the market for a PG and a Big in the Transfer Portal.

I can't read the guy's mind, but he's definitely having fun and it's contagious. I hope he feels welcomed here for the long haul. If you look at the most memorable NCAA BB coaches, they're defined by the programs they established -- Wooden, Knight, that Duke coach whose name I can't spell. ... and yes, Staley. It must have crossed his mind that he's in a place he can inhabit that way. I hope so. I really like this man.

Haven't heard any reason to believe Meechie won't come back. That guy is about as locked in on USC as you can get.

This may not be popular, but I'm skeptical about Eli's impact. He's undersized, and doesn't look very athletic. I don't think he'll be able to drive to the basket at this level like he does at OTE. Still think he'll make an impact as a shooter and distributor. And he's still got a year to improve. But I just don't see him coming in scoring 20+ per game. Now, Trent Noah is a dude that has that kind of potential. Plenty of length at 6-6, looks athletic, great handles, good range, likes to drive.

This team reminds me of why I became a Gamecock fan in 1968/69. I fell in love with our basketball team.

We need to market this team to our young people and grow the fanbase. The coach and players are very likable.
