I'm a late adopter of fads, trends, mRNA vaccines and other emerging technologies. That said, what has been your experience with countertop Air Fryers?

A useful appliance or another countertop obstruction you wish you hadn't purchased?

Just got one. My jury is still out. Ninja xl does more than air fry. Replaced the toaster oven

I borrowed Big Pete’s for wings a few times. I dig it but moms won’t put up with too much schit on the counters and to be worthwhile you need to get the giant size unit

Air is the heat. At the end of the day you are frying whatever you cook in oil. I love to cook in oil, but these things are very loud and unless you are cooking for a small child you need to get a big one. Things like wings have to be single layered in order to cook.

In short, IMO they suck! But, that's just my opinion. I've got two in the garage. If you live near Harrisburg I'll give you one or two.

I have a microwave that is also a convection oven which came with my house but I can’t figure out how to use it, except as a normal microwave. Does anyone know how to use it as an air fryer?

I like ours. You can bang out a whole chicken in around an hour. We used to do that all the time on a Sunday as you can have a bunch of meals for the week - salads, tacos, soup...... It is especially good when you inject it. Skin gets done perfectly.

Make French Fries all the time. Good lower fat fries, and who doesn't love fries? Cut them up on the mandolin, wash them up good and dry. Toss with avocado oil and do the double dip for extra crispiness.

Haven't really ventured out of those two applications. Most I read says you can do a hell of a lot more, we just haven't done it. Definitely buy some parchment paper for the bottom of the tray. Makes clean up a whole lot easier.

Don't have to buy an expensive one.

I’ll need your manufacturer, model number and home address in order to provide professional assistance.

I make good bang bang shrimp in mine. I’ve made fries once but I use it most for bang bang shrimp and chicken tenders.

I use it for stuff for the kids a lot. I find I use my crock pot more but part of that’s bc of work and kids sports schedules. I think it’s nice to have one but mine takes up a decent amount of counter space as someone else said.

I would bet YouTube has something on that. Just search your make and model.

Yes they are. Then go to Costco and get their own wings that are covered in Garlic and Chili paste......and enjoy.

I don't agree. You can put meat or vegetables in an air fryer with no oil and they taste great!

Totally agree. Fish, wings, fries, tots, and veggies are all great in the air fryer. Not to mention you are eliminating oil although I baste my veggies in olive oil prior to seasoning...but they are not sitting in a nasty pan of oil.

First, get the notion of "fryer" out of your mind. They do not fry food. But I use mine for potatoes or sweet potatoes, and I can't make those two foods any better than how they come out of the "air cooker."

Chicken breasts and or tenders work great in them as well.

$200 Amana, french door one. It’s great. Air fries, bakes, toasts, etc. I rarely use my oven anymore
