I sincerely thank everyone who has posted and shared their thoughts in this thread.

My wife is going to hate my decision (I hope she at least respects me), but I'm going to take the plunge.
I want a pic of where she’ll allow you to put it

I thought I would dig this thread back up for those who were thinking of getting an air fryer. I like the one I got, which is a Cosori. No idea if this is a good model or not.

It makes fryer crispy French fries without the mess and grease. I made my own bite size jalapeño poppers this fall and they turn out great in there also. Spray the food with olive oil Pam before cooking.
I've also made hot ham and cheese sandwiches and toasted subs. A couple minutes and they're done.

Cleanup is easy as well. Looking forward to making other foods in it.

This is the one we use. LOVE IT. great for re-heating pizza for the kids. 7 minutes from frozen and it's done. have made bacon in it, good for toast, the kids chicken nuggets and fish sticks cook FAST and crispy, and the wife made a shepherds pie in it.... freaking love the thing. runs hot though. if the recipe calls for 350, set it at 300.

I bought one reluctantly because I originally thought it would just like a deepfryer. No, it can cook a lot of stuff you would cook on the stovetop or a mini-oven. I'm really impressed with it. Fries, potatoes, onion rings, sausage, chicken, hamburgers, bacon, and pretty much anything else. Agree with above that it is also excellent for reheating.

They are the absolute best. As Posters mentioned earlier great for wings, fries, bacon, burgers, vegetables without the mess. Well worth and apparently healthier cooking. I love mine.

We need a new electric range and many now come with built in air fryers. It sounds intriguing. Does anyone have one and if so how well does it work?
That's a sore subject. We have an features rich LG gas range that has been sitting in our garage for the last 5 months, waiting on our kitchen remodel to get started. 15 weeks for the cabinets to be manufactured and shipped, then and now months that we are waiting on the contractor the kitchen remodeling business assigned to our job to finish up other jobs.

Maybe by June (we signed our contract for the remodel in June 2021) we will be able to use our new range that has air frying as a feature, a feature we know nothing about and have obviously not tried so far...........

One year with the kitchen a mess would render me single.

I bought one of these to save counter space. Works atop your pressure cooker. Haven't tried it yet.

No, the kitchen is not a mess. The actual project is not started - nothing torn up from our "old" kitchen yet. I have been told by friends that also had my kitchen remodeler and this same installation contractor that the actual remodel will take 4-6 weeks, if it ever gets started.

But the appliances that I purchased, some of which were hard to get, were delivered in October and are now taking up half of our house garage. And since that's my wife's garage and it's now winter I could really use the snow blower that is blocked in tight behind the new frig...... If the new appliances were where they were supposed to be, in the new kitchen, the snow blower would be prepped and at the garage door ready for the snow that will be coming soon....

I'm a late adopter of fads, trends, mRNA vaccines and other emerging technologies. That said, what has been your experience with countertop Air Fryers?

A useful appliance or another countertop obstruction you wish you hadn't purchased?
I got a $200 one (french door) from Costco. Multi-funcrional cooking options. It’s awesome. We almost never use the oven anymore. Food comes out perfect

I received the air fryer lid for the Instant Pot for Christmas and have now used it twice. In both instances (french fries and fried chicken) the food came out crispy and delicious.

Downside -- it's not very big. I made four drumsticks at once last night and that's about the max it can hold.

Yep. I have a similar setup. Portion size is a challenge for me, too. Need to cook in single-serve batches in order for the air to circulate and cook evenly. I made my first batch of pomme frites today. Not quite McDonalds but close enough. Beats the heck out of deep frying in terms of taste, calories and overall mess. I intend to cook frozen fish and shrimp next.

Got one from Costco. Gormia brand. It's great for potatoes and toasting bread. Not so good for broccoli but great for carrots. Can cook small pizzas too. Better than a toaster oven.
