All knowing board: Suggestions/recommendations on things to see and do between Indianapolis and Omaha during the week in mid-September? It's a Thursday so the Brewers, Cardinals and Royals are all off that day. Thank you in advance.

Go to Springfield, Illinois and the Lincoln Museum. Well worth the trip.
Yes, and the Old State Capitol, a five minute walk away. And his home is a national historical site. Walking in Honest Abe’s footsteps, that’s a trip. Let me just add that while going from town to town as a postmaster, Lincoln would study Euclid’s Elements, he mastered it. Abe was a self-starter, 100%.
I like the Indianapolis Museum of Art, although any city’s art museum is near the top of must-see sights for me. It has an Rembrandt self-portrait painted when he was 21, wow, that one has an impact.
Also the Eiteljorg Museum of the American Indian, very fine. Kids like this museum, fascinating.

It’s brutal. I do it every year, from KY to MN (used to be twice a year but now I just go at Christmas time). At least in the summer there is corn. In winter it’s less interesting…
I love the tail of the dragon, but don't you think it's a bit out the way and possibly in the wrong direction? However, a great a great side excursion.
A 2023 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid which gets me 60mpg locally, on trips more like 54 mpg and wherever my GPS tells me to go.

It's a 9 hour drive without stops. How many days are you taking for this trip?
Stay on the far north side of Indy. Even South Carmel off the bypass isn’t nice.
I try not to drive more than 10 hours a day any more unlike when I was younger.
Itinerary subject to change:
Day 1 SWPA to Indianapolis - Caitlin Clark game
Day 2 to be determined. I like the idea of the Abe Lincoln Museum in Springfield, Illinois.
Day 3 Drive to Omaha
Day 4 Colorado at Nebraska
Day 5 Drive to Hill City, South Dakota
Days 6 & 7 - Badlands National Park, Mt. Rushmore
Day 8 drive to Denver stay with son 6 nights which will hopefully include: a Colorado Rockies game, Colorado at Colorado State football, Steelers at Denver, Coors Beer tour and whatever else he has planned
Day 14 drive to Kansas City
Day 15 Catch a KC Royals game
Day 16 Undetermined - Pirates are in St. Louis but that's out of the way
Day 17 Drive to Norman, Okl
Day 18 Tennessee at Oklahoma
Day 19 Undetermined drive to Nashville?
Day 20 Drive home

West Virginia at Penn State game, drive to Bedford
Drive to Durham
Clemson at Duke
Drive to Charlotte caught Durham Bulls at Charlotte Knights game
Drive to Nashville
Drive to Kansas City
Kansas City to Denver, stayed with son
Did the Las Vegas Raiders at Denver Broncos game, a Colorado Rockies game, Rocky Mountain National Park, Local beer tour, Red Rock Amphitheater, Colorado State Capital tour
Drove to Champaign, Illinois
Penn State at Illinois game
Drove home
