And now tater tech is really behind the 8 ball in the acc race, playoffs are finished.
But if that firmly-planted horseshoe they have remains, they’ll end up still winning the ACC….. that would give them an automatic bid, right?

No, they won the ACC last season and weren't in the playoff. Committee knows the ACC is a joke to start with and no 2 loss team has ever made the playoff.
I was so happy when the status quo finally broke there, (Elliott and Venables) finally moved on. That was the start of a new era of Clemson football.

They’re the biggest reason I don’t like the automatic bid for conf champs. (I realize I’m in the minority with that opinion…..)
ND also lost and my grandson's team (Norfolk State) won. I had quadruple elation tis weekend.
They won the stats in both losses and by a large margin in the Duke game. That tells me if they stop shooting their own feet they could improve. I guess they also need to go for it in obvious FG situations.
Same happened against UT, same happened against USC. It's a trend. Good teams don't find ways to lose. Hearing Dabo explain it away by said "we're literally 3 plays away from being a top 5 team" is the root cause in my opinion.
TV is making college football into a "show", not a sport. The auto bid ensures that more fan bases will keep watching the show for a longer period of time. Expanding the playoff is being done for the same reason. Everyone knows there aren't 12 teams with a chance to be national champions but 12 teams in the playoff means three times as many teams' fans will be watching the sports show. In another 5 years, the playoffs will expand to 16 teams.
The whole point of sports is to be entertained. It is nothing but a show. Always has been, always will be. In the old days people got dressed up to go to the show (football/baseball games). Now with TV, you don't have to show up to see it. I mean, why have sports if it's not for entertainment??
