thing out......The trainers had checked him out and had assured Leach he was o.k........It's not like the kid was in imminent danger or Leach's actions put his life in jeopardy......I can see where they might admonish Leach and maybe even formally discipline him in some way but to fire him is taking this to extremes......One of the reporters I was listening to earlier on ESPN radio was saying that this situation had been blown completely out of proportion......I can tell right now that you never played a down of football......Football is for big boys.......

The flu and a concussion have nothing to do with each other. I think the point is that my boss wouldn't have to make me come in if I had a minor concussion, I would anyway. Ya know why? Because I'm not a *****. I tend to take my work seriously. I work hurt/sick all the time if I have something I need to get done. I make my deadlines!

Keep in mind he is dealing with 17 to 22 year old men here. If someone were to say "my head hurts" and Leach let's him stay at home and play XBox then all of a sudden half the team is getting minor concussions. Maybe he embarrassed the guy, big +!+++#$ deal. You don't like it leave and go play for another team. But I think his rule about you staying at practice even if injured is a good one. Leach did nothing to hurt the kid. He's a *****. James should be dismissed and Leach should be left alone.

Did you see that video a few weeks back of Matthew Stafford? He separated the shoulder on the non-throwing arm. I mean that hurts like hell! He dodged the team doctors and told his coach he could throw. Went into the game and threw the game winning touchdown. Now, all this being said I want the teams to protect players with concussions. They need to keep them from getting hit. But a minor concussion does not mean that you can't work on the exercise bike or do some non-contact drills.

The point of this whole story is that Mike Leach, like most other coaches, hire doctors to tell him who is hurt and who isn't but he expects the players to WANT to play football. To a certain extent that means you wanting to come to practice, wanting to get better, and fighting to get on the field. It does not mean showing up in street clothes when you get a ding on the head. You have obviously never played any contact sport. That or you have found a kindred ***** spirit in James.

you're only reporting one side of the story. Why are you assuming that the kid's story is 100% accurate? Texas Tech owes Leach $800k on December 31 if he's still employed by them (bonus clause in his contract). Seems like maybe the school is trying to get rid of him. I'm saying that the school's motives should be called into question, and we should probably hear the coach's side of the story too, since he's saying TT's medical staff cleared the kid to practice. It appears the general consensus is that the James kid and his dad are whiny bitches looking to stir the pot. Also, many think this appears to be a way for the AD to get even with Leach after last year's contract fiasco. Some are alleging that James wants to transfer to SMU and that Leach has a policy against in-state transfers and this is the family's way of handling not getting what they want. As a side note, why the hell would SMU want him to transfer knowing what happened after the last time a James was on the SMU roster??

Anyhow, I'll be interested in hearing both sides of the story as it comes out. But, I would think you can chalk this up as another event in the gradual pussification of America. If Leach is proven to have acted responsibly, I hope the AD is canned for making a rash decision.

wants to make darn sure that he gets his 800 thousand dollars. If I was two days from it, I don't blame him.

This sounds like something LT would do- fire the coach before he gets his bonus. If he is fired, I think someone will get themselves a heck of a coach for a bargain price. I bet Cincinnati is kicking themselves right now wondering what else could possibly go wrong for them, knowing that they could've replaced Kelly with Leach, who would fit in very well up there, I think. Kentucky might also regret the coach in waiting stuff with Joker Phillips if Leach is indeed available to and Brooks retires.

Leach probably will get fired in the end, if he doesn't leave on his own, and I guess he will need that money if he sits out a year. Or he could find an OC job for a year pretty easily.
