I am hearing that some talented college teams are starting to crack because of NIL payments not being made on time, NIL promises not kept or jealousy among teammates. Not a value judgement on NIL. It’s just human nature. The “new normal.”

I think some of these players and transfers are in for huge awakenings and disappointments. Realizing that having that added stress of the NIL game on top of actually performing on the field and in class is going to disrupt a lot of these kids. It will certainly get worse before it gets better.

What needs to be done by any governing body that looks at it is simple. There should be no NIL mechanism or clearinghouses of any kind connected to schools or boosters acting to operate such.

If players and their families want to hire agents or otherwise set up their own NIL deals with individuals or companies, then let them. That would fulfill the requirements of the court ruling that turned this monster loose.

But deem any involvement of schools and/or their boosters in forming syndicates promoting, negotiating, or facilitating these deals as impermissible benefits not available to all students and therefore punishable by sanctions. Let the NIL stand; quash the machinations that have taken hold.

I hate it when people use platitudes like, "I'm not judging, but...". If you're going to say something, then freaking say it!
I agree. Judge! Judge away! And if somebody has a problem with it, ask who they are to judge you!
