His idea that Notre Dame save Stanford, Cal and the service academies is absurd. Why would Notre Dame jump in with that group? Instead of creating another football conference, why doesn’t he recommend (UCLA HFC) Chip Kelly’s idea where the top 64 football programs become independent like Notre Dame and keep the conferences for basketball and the non revenue sports? Football doesn’t travel like the other sports. There is the potential for multiple monster matchups every weekend. And, century long rivalry games (bring back Oklahoma v Nebraska) never go away, etc…. With these coast to coast conferences, it’s going to suck for UCLA basketball, for example, to wake up on a Tuesday morning and travel across the county and make it just in time to play Maryland for a 7pm tipoff. And, then there’s the return flight. Haha
