Can we invite this fan back the next time Hernandez is assigned a game at the Bank?

I was a proud union member for over 20 years. Glad to have had collective bargaining. And yes, if you were incompetent, you lost your job. Please don’t lump all unions together.
I'm glad you had a good experience as a member of a union. Like any type of organization made up of people, there is good and bad. I wanted to nominate my local UPS delivery guy for an award because he was exceptional. A supervisor told me the union doesn't allow them to give awards. I worked for several years at a job where the union blocked merit raises despite union membership being a tiny portion of the employee base. They only want across the board raises. I left for a massive raise. So my experiences with unions have been not so good. No doubt however that they were essentially to worker safety and well being in the early 1900s.

Not at all what I was getting at. I refuse to believe there is no “for cause” anywhere in there. Then again I’m in an “at will” state, and have lived the life of a government contractor so removing someone is effortlessly easy.

EDIT: I guess a little bit what I was getting at….. my point about it being easy to fire someone for cause based on job performance stands
Ya probably enjoyed it, too.

Another sign of his incompetence - there is a larger gap in error % between worst and 2nd worst than there is between 2nd and 9th worst. He really separates himself from his “peers”.
Think about how an 8% error rate impacts one game and multiply that times the total games he plate umps in a season.

I’d bet there are at least 250 total pitches in an average game. That’s about 20 bad calls each time he plate umps.

No doubt that swings scores. I won’t be surprised if some sort of scandal involving him breaks down the road.

I feel like in the normal working world, if you were horrible at your job, then claimed racial discrimination for not getting chosen for the best assignments and subsequently filed a lawsuit for it, your employment would be terminated pretty quickly. How is this boner still employed??

Welp......you no longer have Angel to kick around...........

Every ump misses the close ones from time to time, they’re human. It was the pitches that bounced off the ground ten feet from the plate, and the ones that sailed over the catcher’s head that were called strikes by Angel that caused me to question his competency.
