Hot take, I don’t see it out of the realm that Kentucky lands stokes. To me, it would mean that Pope got enough back room support given his bleak outlook and somehow just paid enough to try and grab some momentum. it’s possible, doubtful, but possible. To me long term doesn’t mean much, Pope has a huge issue on his hands with a bad staff I don’t think he’ll remove, lackluster on court coaching, and again pope is still just hitting his average. He’s not a young new
Coach which so many fall into this lie. He’s not young. He’s not new. He’s been doing this a long while.

To me if he landed stokes it would just be about Stokes. Maybe JMI saw the problems and decided, given their bad press, to just buy him. My issue is I don’t think it would ripple, I think it would be a one off. i think Mitch will try and do some thing where and there, as will JMI most likely, to give the perception Pope is doing things at a nigh level when really he’s just mid.

If we can get JMI to just start buying players because of bad press let’s give em hell boys!

I believe our offer to be almost double what Kansas has put together. So say what you want, there is definitely a way we land him if we play it right. Schools aren’t throwing around that type of money and Kansas has been burned by Peterson. 2-3 million in NIL is a ton and not many make more or are being offered more currently.
If we are offering double what they are and he hasn’t signed yet, that’s really bad in their era of check chasing.

Stokes is a long forgotten dream of becoming a Wildcat! Why do you guys do this crazy stuff to yourselves? Kentuck or any another school will not offer Stokes anything close to $5+ million. Stokes can will get paid somewhere between $1.5 to $2.5 million. He will go where he will get developed for the NBA draft and win a ton of ballgames.
We paid Oweh more than that, the number one player will certainly get some larger offers.

I think we need to go $4-5M for him.

This year I think we topped out in the low $2's. Which by the way makes the $22M # we keep hearing not likely, because it's safe to say we have several (Noah, Potter, Hawthorne, probably Moreno & Johnson) under $1M. I bet we are more in the $15M range.
I’ve never once believed that number. I think Barnhart threw that out because of JMIs failures.

Kentucky never corrected the rumor, which at this point is mentioned so much that you would think they would have corrected it due to the bad PR ($22 million on a roster that even when healthy was barely a top 10 team preseason).

The rumors are more likely true than not for that reason alone. No one from Kentucky has contradicted the reports. No one.

Why is that?
Because they want recruits to believe it. I think JMI gives a range of what they could possibly make and not hard numbers. Agents have said this.
We think we can get you between 1-2 million with our corporate partners.
Recruits want hard numbers. Not projections.
The 22 million is top of all they told people’s range. By this teams effort and attitude. JMI didn’t hit anyone’s top end promise.

A lot of people getting their hopes up from a random person on a message board saying something that is unsubstantiated

which ever players come back, hopefully they will have gained 15 lbs of muscle. We have a woefully bad S&C program.

Geez. Reaching and projecting. Your theories, as negative as they are, aren’t based in fact. Just your wishful thinking.
Just a 100% downer. Hope you aren’t like that off the board.
His mother likes CMP and being from Louisville fully understands the long term benefits of being a UK bball player. Thinks he would be a great role model for TS and he would get great oversight at UK.
I heard that directly from a person close to her.

Tyran Stokes has a chance to change the program like Mashburn/John Wall.

I think he knows this and will be a Cat. If he goes to Kansas he’s just another player. They have players like Peterson. They won’t be drooling over Stokes like us Tucky fans. Yea we had plenty of talent for 15 years. Most of us are dying to see what Pope can do with it.

I mean I read on there between $4 million and $6 million- if we have $22 million to spend again, I think you meet in the middle at $5 million and get it done! Don't we all wish now we had just done that for Dybansta or Caleb Wilson?

That leaves you with $17 freaking million dollars to fill out the roster with.

Stokes- $5 million
Collin- $2 million
Malachi- $3 million (because of the threat of the NBA draft)
Kam- $2 million

Portal PG stud- $2.5 million
Portal SG/SF stud - $2.5 million
Jelavic or backup 4 man- $1.5 million
3 & D bench guy- $1 million
Backup PG- $1.5 million
Backup 5 man- $1 million

That's your $22 million right there, not to mention we are also offering rev sharing which gives us another like $8 million I think? Can't remember. Money isn't an object at Kentucky, just get it done.
