Anybody else anxious about this week's game?

I remember 2010. I don't want the team to come out flat. Vandy is good this year, and it's exactly the type of game that is set up for us to lose. However, if we can build on our successes from last week, I think we can win the game.

History tells us to expect a letdown. How much we are able to control it likely determines our fate in the game.

Others have noted it's advantageous that we know Vandy is good. If they win, it won't be because they snuck up on us. They are definitely good enough to beat us and the team should be preparing accordingly.

If Beamer can get the team to show up mentally and emotionally for this game after the emotional high of last week, that'll be extremely impressive coaching.

I don't think Vandy is sneaking up on anybody. They're good. If they beat us, it probably won't be because we're overlooking them.

Correct. I'm mostly correct about Beamer getting the team mentally and emotionally focused after the emotional high of last week. It's a hard thing to do.

Yeah, people will bring that up for years in talking about not underestimating vandy.

But they are still vandy.
Given that Vandy had lost all 60 games to top 5 teams prior to beating Bama, there's a strong argument that they are not still Vandy.

I’m interested to see how that kid at Vandy plays against this front seven. Definitely not on their level athletically but just a good feel for the game. I don’t think the Vandy defense will be able to do enough to keep it close.

Interested to see their offense also. They have not cracked 300 yards in their past 3 SEC contests. Barely cracked 200 against Auburn. But to their credit they've won 2 of those games.

I'm pretty sure the front 7 at Bama and Texas are at least equal to what he will see Saturday. Auburn has a pretty strong front 7 as well.

To actually answer the OP's question, no, I don't really feel anxious. As much as I know this Vandy is team is actually good, I still feel like we should beat Vandy every year. That thinking is flawed, but I can't shake it.

I'm not anxious. I've posted on other threads that I'd be more worried about this game if Vandy sucked. It's not a trap game when they're ranked and already beat Alabama.

Now I'll probably be a bit anxious at 4:15 on Saturday!

Disruptive defense is our key to victory. Can't let their QB settle in and get comfortable and control the clock with sustained drives.
Need at least 24 pts on offense to give us some cushion for the occasional breakaway TD we have been giving up.
Looking forward to this game.

Well, technically speaking, they are still vandy because they didn't change their name.

:)

But seriously, if we've progress 1/10 as far as we think, we should not suffer a vandy fluke. They've already had their fluke this year.

Texas and Bama 28th annd 45th, respectively , in total sacks. Auburn not in top fifty. Carolina number 3. Carolina tied for 6 in defensive touchdowns. Bama, Texas, and Auburn not in top 50. South Carolina 8th in team tackles for a loss. Texas tied for 19th. Auburn and Alabama not in top 50. From a productivity standpoint, no, Vandy has not seen this. As a side note, not sure why Auburn was even included in your original statement.

No, for several reasons…

1. I understand what our team is and isn’t, so losing to Vandy doesn’t change that

2. It’s already been a substandard season

3. We’ll win against Wofford, so we’re going to a crap bowl anyhow
