We sign a couple of good WR, RB, and DLs but other than that it has been really soft. We bring in Jay Hughes, who is our assistant coaches son, along with really no offensive lineman . We did not recruit any offensive lineman last year either, and after this year we are screwd at OL. On top of that Mullen still has not brought in a QB recruit (Russell was recrutied by Croom and would have signed with us regardles if Mullen was here or not ).</p>

I cut Mullen a little slack due to the fact that its always hard to begin with when you come to a school like MSU without a lot of glitz and recruit when you have no natural ties to the area. However, that said, the loss of Newton is strictly on him as that was a player he personally coached for 2 years and STILL couldn't reel him in. And overall it looks like this class will be a step down from last year without much on the offensive line. Bumphis is the one big time guy that Mullen appears to have pulled in since being here. Most of the best of last year were Croom recruits. However, that being said, I am confident enough in Mullen's coaching ability to believe that whatever we do have he will maximize.
