That’s awesome! I don’t know the age of your son but if he’s old enough I’m sure if you spoke to the barn manager or even the coach possibly he could help with chores in exchange for some riding lessons on the weekends!

Well I guess if you're a guy, short, and weigh less than 130lbs you can join.
Why should weight or height be a consideration if you could use horses that could carry you? Many of the contestants have an advantage when they are light-weight.
I’m not sure if many men who go to college ride horses.

Most of their events is timed, so less weight equals faster. Shorter equals better aerodynamics which equals faster. Hell, male swimmers shave their legs, arms and chest to get faster supposedly.

Just asking. Isn't our equestrian program considered a "Club Sport"?

I thought I had once heard it described that way and wouldn't know what the difference is anyway, other than the NCAA may not have any sanctioning authority whatsoever.
My son really loves horses & I’ve thought about taking him but never have.

My daughters also have a deep love/affection for horses. I don't remember the year, late 80's, early 90's, and I was living in Cincinnati at the time. My daughters were visiting for a month and I read in the newspaper (remember those?) about some 'Horse Thing' up near King's Point. Threw the kids in the car and decided to go see what there was to see.

Ended up parking in some big ole field and basically followed the flow of some folks to find our way in. Finally got to an area, I'll call a paddock. No stables but, several stalls, walking rings, horse trailers, motor homes and areas where the riders/horses were exercising. We walked around, talked with some of the riders, pet some of the horses, yada, yada, ya.

Finally took some seats in the bleachers. The actual event lasted over three hours and there was a darn good size crowd there and I remember mentioning how excited many of the horse people and folks in the crowd seemed to be acting.

The next day I found out it was The Finals for one of the US Olympic Team Equestrian events. Apparently, we just strolled in with the owners/riders before the so-called gates were open. Neighbor told me bleacher seats were sold for $30 a pop, which was a lot back then.

If I had known that Hanna Powers from WCBD in Charleston was there, I would have been.
