Yea, me either but that’s what our AD chartered for the basketball team to fly up to Raleigh this afternoon.
Im sure it was a cost savings.

If it's owned by Musk, expect a few drama llamas to refuse boarding, and someone to get caught trying to light one on fire.

I mean, they're only one of the fastest growing domestic charter airlines in the US, but sure, if our athletic department uses them, they must suck. From their website:

GlobalX is a fast-growing airline based in Miami providing passenger and cargo charter operations. We operate a fleet of Airbus A320 family aircraft, serving destinations across the U.S., Caribbean, Europe, and Latin America. Since starting commercial operations in August 2021 with just two passenger aircraft, GlobalX has expanded to 18 passenger aircraft and 4 cargo aircraft, achieving revenues of $160 million in 2023.

GlobalX provides services to the U.S. government, sports teams, casinos, and various tour operators and airlines. By the end of 2026, GlobalX aims to grow its fleet to 35 aircraft. Since our inception, we have flown to 347 cities in 61 countries.

Also, as someone previously mentioned, NCAA handles travel arrangements for teams further than 400 miles (First 2 Rounds) or 350 miles (Sweet 16 and later rounds) from their tournament site:

Fly vs. Drive. First Four and First/Second Rounds. Teams located 400 or more miles from the team’s assigned site of competition are authorized to book a charter flight through the NCAA’s travel service, Short’s Travel Management. Teams located less than 400 miles from their designated site are eligible for ground transportation reimbursement.

Fly vs. Drive. Regional Rounds and the Final Four. Teams located 350 or more miles from the team’s assigned site of competition are authorized to book a charter flight through Short’s Travel Management. Teams located less than 350 miles from their designated site are eligible for ground transportation reimbursement.

Driving that far for one game would be a hassle.
The "drive" portion only applies to teams closer than the stated travel distances. For example, if we played an NCAAT game in Memphis (approx 180 miles), the NCAA would reimburse our driving expenses, but not flying expenses.

When I was about 10, my cousin and I found a VHS tape about an airline appropriately named XXX Airlines hidden in his Dad's office. Wonder if its the same one?
