Anyone think Skip Holtz will return to the college game anytime soon.

Doubt it. He's 60. He did pretty well at UConn, considering it's UConn. Had a good run at LaTech, winning bowl games in 6 of 9 seasons. Prior to Holtz they were 1-2-1 in bowl games. He went 6-1 in 9 seasons. Kind of surprised they fired him after one bad year in 2021, unless there were other things going on I don't know about.

He’s been hired to a temporary position at Northwestern, plans to continue the USFL gig.

Yeah, I saw the Northwestern deal. As far as coaching, I don't see that in his future at 60 years old. Not P5 anyway.

Seems to be thriving in the USFL. From Wiki

During his stint in Birmingham, he has led the team to a combined 17-3 record over two seasons (2022, 2023), and winning the USFL Championship in both seasons.

If the USFL folds, I could see him back in college, probably somewhere similar to a La Tech type job, not heavily sought after.

Probably just getting stale for them after 9 years, 5-5 and then 3-9, but of course they will probably will do worse again for a extended period of time and wonder what or why they did?
