I was assuming the BIG and SEC TV contracts are for CFB only. that is not including all the other sports Is that correct? I thought MBB and other revenue type sports are on their own media deals. Is this correct?

The deals, at least as far ss money goes, are for football and men's basketball. Other sports are pretty much a throwaway, though that may change for women's basketball.

so if BIG and SEC take their ball and go home = i.e. make their own playoff system and season games, then that money is gone essentially. Whatever is left if for MBB.

then each sport is on its own. seems like this would be kind of a hit for the other sports. I was always under the impression that this funding was covering all AD not just CFB.

Not sure exactly what you are asking.... If the Big Ten and/or SEC left the NCAA for football, they would still have TV partners who would carry their games, presumably the same TV partners that already have deals in place. They'd potentially be able to get extra TV money by selling a new special playoff package directly to the networks as opposed to only getting a share of the current College Football Playoff money as they currently do.

The second paragraph seems odd. It's always been the case that revenue from football (TV, ticket sales, obligated NLC donations) is what covers the AD budget and basically allows every other sports other than men's basketball (and arguable men's ice hockey) to exist and be paid for. If the SEC and/or Big Ten broke away for football, that would still be the case.
