Are you allowed in the kitchen today?

Wife and I split the cooking 50%/50%. For those banned from the kitchen is it because you're not a good cook or that your wives are control enthusiasts who don't trust you to assist?

yeah- the second thing, but it's ok with me because she's a great cook

I hate when others “try to help.” The reality is that it takes more effort to describe what needs to be done and how than it does for me to do it myself. If they learned from it there’d be some hope, but the next time somebody puts some thought into the task I give them will first the first. Plus the extra obstacles (people) around me in a kitchen with limited space is a recipe for an oopsie. And don’t get me started on people piling crap in the sink when it has to be clear in order to wash the stuff I already have lined up.

Peoples is dumb. I got this. Relax and all will be fine.

Help out when needed. Wife and daughter working on most of it. When I am beckoned I go there and assist.

I’m allowed but we go to my parents (currently sitting in traffic on 76), I bring the dishes I’m “assigned” every year and put them wherever they need to go. Ask if they need help, which is usually a “no” and then get out of the way and spend time with my relatives I don’t get to see as much. I have also turned into the designated dishwasher over the years which is fine by me because I like the peace and quiet.

Currently doing everything with a little help from my MIL. Two mimosas so far…

In other words, she’s cooking and you’re drinking. 😉

Two coffees so far here. A cup of Starbucks French Roast at home and now a Pumpkin Spice Latte at Starbucks. Pacing myself. The day is still young.

Thanksgiving is at my sister in laws, so I normally just stay out of the road. This year I'll be the master of my own kitchen, by myself at home. Thanks to viral pneumonia. Thank God for leftovers. My wife already saved me a piece of her homemade pumpkin pie.

Well, it turned out well without any help from me- seconds were as good as firsts, now it's time to do- well, nothing.

I peeled and cooked the sweet potatoes, then was told my services were no longer needed. I happily left to go watch TV.

The trick is to do a bad job, then you're not asked to do any more work.

Of Course. I'm always responsible for pots and pans and dishes.

That's been our tradition
