I don’t care about narratives, and I despise conventional wisdom. I’m glad that JF says he’s a metrics guy, but unfortunately, that claim doesn’t seem to bear out when the rubber hits the road. Otherwise, how do you justify giving Sean every meaningful snap this season?

Corey Geiger is employed by the Altoona Mirror. Anyone care to guess where that rates him among the best sportswriters in the country? When will fanboys stop reacting to every negative article written by 10th rate "journalists" earning a dollar an hour and all you can eat contracts.

you play to win the game
Having a efficient quarterback makes it easier to win the games. If I ever met Clifford, I’d shake his hand and thank him for his leadership (underrated, I believe), but I wouldn’t thank him for the memories. With one game left, he’s had an underwhelming career.

I’m not saying that Franklin made a mistake in moving on from Stevens and Levis, but we really need to up our qb game to a point where our quarterbacks are regularly drafted. Clifford won’t get a sniff from the NFL.

James Franklin laughs at Corey Geiger.
Here's my explanation:
James Franklin annual compensation > 7 million dollars
Corey Geiger < 50 thousand dollars

The douche admitted to CJF late this year that he's from Arkansas. CJF response was "makes sense". 😏

This is the best post so far. Too many on the far ends of the spectrum WRT Cliff/JF. Was he a guy the staff knew they could rely on and as Jim said, a leader, of course. Did he probably do everything right in practice, mentor the young guys and put in extra hours with film, I'd guess so, JF wouldn't play him if not DId he also miss a bunch of open passes or even complete them on a bad throw where he should have been leading the receiver but they caught it behind them, thats true too. (thats why completion percentage doesnt mean as much as people think it does, same with yards and pass TD's)

Did Sean do well during his time here, yes but was he enough to get us to 'elite' status, no.

I've come to accept the fact that those fanboys that yell the loudest about Franklin/Clifford/Allar are those that are furthest removed from competitive football in their lives. In other words, they never played the game beyond pick up games in the back yard (where they were usually one of the last ones chosen), nor have they ever coached football in rec league, high school, or college. Does the shoe fit?

It was the opinion of the coaching staff that Sean Clifford was the best qb on the team and provided the team with the best chance to win each game every weekend. Why is that so difficult for you to understand?

Ask Caziah Holmes, Devyn Ford, or Keyvone Lee if the coaching staff plays the best players.

Franklin can't kidnap QBs and make them come here. He got a verbal from Fields, recruited McCord (and Marvin Harrison, Jr.) from St. Joe's Prep, Caleb William from Washington, DC among others. I am sure no one works harder to try to get the top-rated QBs to Happy Valley than Franklin.

Simply because we have seen the failures of the coaching......and don't take the word of anyone using old cliche criticisms like "fanboy". List your resume and then we will decide if you have all the experience you deride others of not possessing.
Myself....I am apathetic to this new game resembling college football....

Not a fan of how CJF handled this year with Sean and Allar, but the article is, IMO, unnecessary.

Question...does Cory leave his phone speaker on in public?

And that was a great get. With all due respect to the kids coming in at QB after that, do we have a splash name among the QB recruits? You have to keep the assembly line rolling.
Here's the way it works. "We" will if and when Allar plays up to his 5 star rating. If Allar walks on water in 2023, I believe another similar QB will commit. Until then, PSU will remain a place where 3 or 4 stars fill that position.
The value of an assembly line is measured by what comes out in the end.....not the beginning.
