I don't bear him any ill will and I think we could do worse for a DC. Obviously, that's not a likely option.

Made north of $10 million from Mississippi State in 4 seasons. Good DC. Wrong timing to be a HC. I do think he has a shot to be a good HC but it won’t be here unfortunately.
It's more like 7.5 million and if he gets hired on elsewhere, it'll be around 4.5 million

Nah it won’t take that long. He’ll probably do a great job at his next stop
We obviously won’t have any way of knowing this one way or another until he gets that chance, but out of sheer curiosity, what has he shown up to this point that would make you believe that?

How? He made about 3 million as our DC. He made 3 million this year and will get 4.5 million in a buyout.

He’s a smart guy, good DC. He was thrown into the fire too soon and will learn a ton from this. Made a crucial mistake with the QB situation. He’ll be fine.

It’s unfortunate what happened this year. It’s best for both sides to part ways. But thinking Arnett won’t be a good coach down the road is rooted in emotion. He’s 37 and spent his entire career under two legends.

Maybe the thinnest resume of anyone to get an SEC HC job in the modern era. The only other place he's coached is SDSU. It's akin to Hunter Biden's career path.

I don't blame him, cause I would have taken the job too...and I'd done a much worse job most likely.

Not me. I would’ve kicked *** for $3 mil and my buyout!!!

How about after the season we don't fire him, but we demote him to DC. Keep his pay the same.

Felker was worse. He was WR coach at Alabama when we hired him. But that was a different era. If you think it’s hard to attract a good coach today, it’s nothing compared to the 1980s. Dick Vitale said our basketball job was the worst in the country. He wasn’t wrong. The football job wasn’t much better.

Yeah, but we were "in the black" with the smallest budget in human history.

Freeze before Ole Miss HC hire. I'm not giving this much credit for a thicker college resume, and their coach didn't pass away ...

I don't see anything that tells me he will make a good head coach someday. I think his calling is on the defensive side and being able to coordinate a modern day, 5 DB defense effectively. I think his ceiling is a DC for a power program. Brock's ceiling is in the high school ranks. Barbay is a mid major coach.
