Gamecocks are playing pretty good baseball, but:
1. not getting clutch hits
2. your 2nd baseman can't be batting 0.175

I agree - sometimes the shortstop may have longer leash since they're better on defense as a rule.No starter should be batting 0.175
Please, no more transfers from Vandy!Gamecocks are playing pretty good baseball, but:

Will McGillis hit .313 with 14 home runs in 99 ABs last year.the 2nd baseman batted .182 last year
I was talking about Tippet who played while McGillis missed alot of the seasonWill McGillis hit .313 with 14 home runs in 99 ABs last year
Don't tease us.....Coach is gone after this year I'd guess.

I think the root problem with our hitting is a lack of selectivity early in the count. When you swing at bad pitches early, you get behind in the count. When you're behind in the count, batting averages suffer. This also impacts the number of runners LOB.3. Your cleanup hitter can't be batting .191
4. You can't have 4 of your starters below .200 (13th in batting avg)
5. You can't be fielding .970 (11th in the SEC)
Also, the same issue we had last year of taking 1st pitch fastballs grooved down the middle. Automatically taking the 1st pitch is not a good hitting approach.I think the root problem with our hitting is a lack of selectivity early in the count. Did you hear RT reply during last night game he would like to see our hitters more aggressive early in at bat. Also, the same issue we had last year of taking 1st pitch fastballs grooved down the middle. Automatically taking the 1st pitch is not a good hitting approach.
That is a fundamental flaw in the approach preached by Kingston. He preaches "plate discipline". We're going to take a lot of strikes. Good hitters want to hit. They don't want to take strikes. Also, the same issue we had last year of taking 1st pitch fastballs grooved down the middle. Automatically taking the 1st pitch is not a good hitting approach.
There were several times Ray tried to guess what we were going to do based on pretty basic baseball thinking at the plate... only to be wrong. Once or twice I get but at some point you got to think wth.Did you hear RT reply during last night game he would like to see our hitters more aggressive early in at bat.
He hired him, he can fire him! Admit your mistake and move on.Did you hear RT reply during last night game he would like to see our hitters more aggressive early in at bat.
Would you be satisfied when he hired ML as replacement? He hired him, he can fire him! Admit your mistake and move on.
