We'll be heading down to Simpsonville next week to visit family over our kids spring break. One day we're gonna head down to Columbia so I can take the kids to Riverbanks and then over to Zesto to get a dipped cone like I used to get back in the 80s. I'd like to get some BBQ while in that general area, but with the kiddos, we can't venture anywhere way out. Wherever we go needs to have hash...non-negotiable...and should be kid friendly (i.e. have macaroni cheese). Any suggestions? Don't prefer to go to Piggy Park, but maybe that's the best option. I'll probably swing by Hite's to get some BBQ to go and bring back home, but it's not super kid friendly as we still have one in a high chair.

Is Palmetto Pig near Williams Brice good? I went there once like 12 years ago or so, but I don't recall much about it.

True BBQ in West Columbia is fantastic. Some of the best I've ever had.

The Bussin' With the Boys crew ate at Home Team Barbeque. I've never heard of this joint before. Any opinions on their Q?

Gawd I miss Coupe. One mention of BBQ long ago during the dead period, and he started a war here on FGF.

I tried Home Team in Mt. Pleasant the other day. I did not enjoy the brisket. The pulled pork was good. If you're looking for really good hash go to Orangeburg. Dukes or Antleys.

You may have to venture off the path a ways. Shealy’s BBQ is the gold standard on what a BBQ buffet should be. It’s a little bit of a drive from Columbia though.
