Been a PSU football fan since mid to late 70's . Live in Indiana , the state. I was big IU Basketball fan starting at the same time. All the games were televised one way or other on free TV. I didnt even know IU even had a football team . IU's best football was Lee Corso winning the 79 Holiday Bowl. If b some miracle PSU had a great season and IU did the same year? I'd be torn but never going to happen, If IU had a really good yr and PSU was down ? Yes I'd be for IU that one year and again never going to happen.

Disappointing to lose to OSU again sure. people on game thread saying Franklin is worst coach in football period. Seriously? I follow IU as it's my state and when season begins people are already coming up with scenarios of how we can sneak into a bowl game before we even play. Have likely the worst head coach in Div I that somehow through having this yrs Heisman front runner that transferred later, into a covid altered decent yr and has a 20 MILLION buyout right now and HS teams might beat IU

Day isnt any better coach. I dont trust people that turn red LOL, seriously today They had Harrison which is for sure but I'm not sure OSU gets called for PI or holding on that TD return and sure looked like the punter stepped on the end line.

So PSU is a solid 9-10-11 win team every year and people calling the coach out as worst ever? Fun games to watch, fun team to watch. You guys used to ride Clifford. The entire state of Indiana would have bowed to him as IU's QB for what 6 years?

Highly doubtful anyone out there better for PSU than Franklin and IU wouldnt even bother to interview him if he got fired they would have a moving van there for his stuff.

Audrey Snyder’s article in The Athletic:

For 364 days a year, Franklin talks about how his program needs to be aligned, needs more support, needs to keep pace in the world of name, image and likeness and the transfer portal. On the 365th day, the one that matters most, the result is another clunker against the Buckeyes.

You serious, Clark?

Day isn’t a better coach? CJF hasn’t beaten him yet.
When the Ohio State fans want to fire Day after they lose to Michigan again, I say do it, please!, and we can hire him. Buyout be damned.
We won't be exponentially better, but we'll at least have a better game plan going into the biggest games in conference. I'd take that right now.

I’d take Day over Franklin in a heartbeat. A nonosecond.

I can’t wait for Franklin to resume his whining about lack of NIL support this off-season.

good luck to the folks at HVU generating interest in donations.

You're correct, but HVU is peanuts. Kraft wants to spend $700mm on stadium. That money is coming from fans in the form of donations and much higher ticket prices. I can hear the checkbooks being ripped open as I write.

The truth hurts. Sandy effed PSU on her way out. Just screwed over the program.
Franklin is a fraud been saying it since the rivals days and blacklisted for speaking truth to power. He single handedly destroyed the culture of this program. He is a whiner and an excuse maker. Buck stops with him folks. He has the power to make the changes that need to be made but won’t.

I think this is a little overboard but I do agree that Sandy screwed PSU totally (and not just re: Franklin)…signing a high paying, long term contract for proven mediocrity is down right criminal.

Franklin should get one more chance…win out or PSU bites the bullet.

I AGREE that he is an excuse maker
I DISAGREE that he isn’t willing to make changes

The issue is that the changes he makes rarely fix the problem

WR coaches, and offensive coordinators are exhibits 1 and 1A

We were spoiled by having one of the greatest coaches in college football history, and we haven’t reached the pinnacles he did since his demise. Franklin is a good recruiter and motivator and he beats the teams he should beat, but his record against winning programs that we need to beat to get to the top, is abysmal.

I honestly think his contract was a result of the sanctions. Hear me out… If it weren’t for the sanctions, we would constantly have top four in mind. However, with the sanctions, I believe that expectations were lowered and leadership just wanted to get back to top 10. I think FRANKLIN is a top 10 coach, but he is not a top 4 coach. I would be happy to be proven wrong, though…

Close your eyes and imagine this guy here since last spring. Convince me we‘d go 0-21 on third downs

Dudes been a pro coach in some way since 2005. He’s not a flash in the pan. I get what you’re saying but finding a McDaniel is never a sure thing. You willing to give up perennial top 10’s For a chance??

Truth is Day and Franklin are cut from the same latter day football cloth…plenty of sloppy play on both teams…fundamentals be damned. Day may be better, but that doesn’t mean he’s a great coach.
