Of course, he didn't say that Lanorris would play. In any event, it doesn't sound like it was anything that serious.

Never can tell, though.

It seemed serious when he tried to play afterwards. And it seemed serious enough to then hold him out of a tight, winnable game.

I don't care about coachspeak afterwards. Sit sellers for this week. Jmo

I dunno. Coach is probably working with limited information in the moment. It's doubtful he had had undergone a full and thorough evaluation at that point so you make the best/safest decision you can. I'm sure he was told Sellers could play and then Beamer just based the decision on his effectiveness.

Depending on the type of sprain, it would not be terribly uncommon for it to greatly limit his mobility in the immediate but heal up rather quickly.

This past summer at the beach, I was flying kites with my kids, walking backwards, and stumbled into a hole someone had dug about 3 feet deep. Twisted and sprained my right ankle. I was hobbling bad and could hardly bend it that day. I took some Ibuprofen and woke up the next day good to go. Not all sprains are created equal.

We shall see.

If Sellers is not limited, I see no point in sitting him. As we've seen, he still needs live reps. I would not be enthused about going into the Ole Miss game with a QB who hadn't played in 3 weeks.

Of course, a player is going to say they are good to go if they are remotely feeling better, they want to play. If it was a sprained ankle and not just a rolled ankle then there's no way he's 100%, and if he's anything less than 100% he should rest. Sellers will have to continue to run for the offense to be successful. He already had something in the leg against UK (something in the calf??). He will likely endure some other injuries so Ashford or whoever needs more reps because chances are high they will be called upon suddenly against a much better opponent than Akron. They tend to struggle through games like this anyhow so they might as well not further bust up Sellers and get someone else some meaningful reps. Furthermore, I am inclined to think Beamer does not believe Sellers is 100% and this was coach speak and is a good way to dissuade any further questions.

Why are you inclined to believe one way or the other seeing we have no facts available to us?

Some of it is general skepticism, not particular to Gamecock football so that's just me. But some of it is just observing what is said and how it's said. Beamer spoke in generalities and in terms of what might be possible by Saturday regarding all the injuries in general. He was then asked specifically about Sellers, that's when Beamer stated "Lanoris assures me he'll be ready to roll." He was then further asked about quarterbacks in the event of Sellers not being ready and he went with coach speak answers which translates to: I do not have an answer and/or I do not want to give an answer" (which is fine). So it appears he was not going to specifically address the Sellers injury and he has to know that question is coming, so if Sellers is good to go or you're certain that he will be then that's part of what you tell people before asking for any questions. So yeah, no concrete facts, just my take after observing how it was all communicated. Hope I am wrong.
