Some people talk the talk, and some walk the walk. I think we all know who talked the talk...we were the Eskimos that thought we were getting ice...and we got a sippy cup full of moldy water that had been left underneath your car seat for 6 months.

Beamer is tenacious. We all know his feats in the DMV last year, and he's going to keep that going this class as well. He's gotten other studs from the NE as well. That's a new pipeline he has established. But one thing that was impressive that I came across. 4* WR from TX, Parker Livingstone, announced his top 5 a few days ago. Not surprising at all to see UT, A&M, LSU, and Ark as top choices for a high profile TX player. But there was an outlier...USC. Clearly, this is a guy that was probably not thinking much about going out of his region. But Beamer has us in his top 5 with a fighting chance. The guy is just going to chase down every lead he can. And I freaking love that about him. There are no excuses. I know it's just one recruit. But he could have said, "i'm not wasting time on a kid that doesn't want to travel". Beamer looks at it as it's his job to MAKE him want to travel. And THAT, my friends, is why I have a garage full of ice blocks baby!! I'm buying all of what he's selling!!

There has always been the debate about do you spend your time locking down instate knowing that SC doesn't produce enough talent to consistently compete, or do you divert attention away from SC and focus on more regional/national recruiting? Beamer is recruiting nationally, while locking down SC. He's going to have 4 out of the top 5 in SC this class for the 2nd straight year. And for the 2nd straight year, Clemsux is going to only have 1 of the top 10 in SC.

Beamer is going all-in on the relationship aspect. So far, it's working well.
Beamer's player relationships have created a Carolina Culture to go with a Game Day atmosphere 2nd to none, both of which are now widely recognized, and is being sold by the current players and committed recruits. Beamer is the Sales Manager of quite a Gamecock Sales Team!

Yes, good point about being sold by current players and recruits. When you build such strong relationships with your current players and recruits, you basically build a recruiting army.

Yep!! Reno's twitter is filled with pics of him with fans during the spring game. Dude is still in HS and is a fan favorite. The way these kids kind activate when they commit is impressive. They're like Beamer's little recruiting gremlins. LOL

Muschamp's statement about selling ice to eskimos should have been a warning to us that he didn't believe in his own product. Perhaps it's just semantics, but I don't think Beamer feels like he has to sell ice to eskimos. I think he feels like he has something great to show recruits and that he believes it's going to be even greater in the future. In short, he believes in the product.

Between that and the “look at my wife” comment were cringy. But you’re spot on.

That was my initial thought as well. I don’t see Beamer viewing himself as selling anything. I don’t think he believes he has to sell anyone on coming to USC. He is 100% about building relationships.

Amen to y'all.

I never liked Muschamp, especially after that sleazy con man Eskimo comment. You could just tell he was a fraud in that moment. The whole "selling the program" is tired and just kind of...gross. If somebody has to use a financial analogy, investing would be more apt.

I think Dabo found success with All In and the family theme (wink: NewSpring Church).

Beamer is making it through being a good person, Joy, and the connections he has inherited, earned and cultivated.

The best sales people don't sell a product. They educate the client on how great their product is to the point of the client making a decision.

Chump: "I can sell ice to Eskimos"
Beamer: "This place is special, we have all we need to win NOW."

Muschamp's comment was telling. To sell ice to an Eskimo means you're duping someone into buying something they don't need. That's how he viewed recruits and USC.

Shane had a good rep when he was here under Steve.

I felt he would be good at recruiting, but this is getting real interesting! 😲
To me it's gratifying to see this staff address a problem that has been our achilles heel forever and a day. They are putting together an ol that has the potential to finally field an SEC ol that can compete at the top level of football. If it holds together and they develop our qbs won't have to run for their lives and our rb will have a chance to shine. Keeping fingers crossed and hoping they jell into something special.

I can't recall the last time I was confident in our OL.

I do recall the year we had the rash of false start penalties under SOS and he started pulling guys out of a game if they got one.

Every now and then I listen to the Mickey Plyler show on the way to work. On Tuesday he has Tony Morrell on for a segment, so that's nice for a Clemson station. But I like to take the temp on the taters from time to time. This morning he had Paul Strelow on to talk recruiting. He essentially asked Paul to talk clemson fans off of a ledge due to USC's outstanding recruiting. Seems like they expect Hevin Shuler Brown to be a headliner. He's a 4* DL, #183 nationally and the #27 player in GA. Compared to their past, that's a lack luster headliner. As a comparison, we are in really good shape with Justin Green. He's also a 4* DL from UGA. Except he's the #79 overall recruit and the #12 in GA. We've got 3 current commits higher rated than Green and have 5 rated higher than Shuler-Brown. And we've got some big guys still left on the board. Fellas, they are feeling it!!

Bingo…. easier to sell when it’s from your belief and heart. Sincerity is hard to fake. WM probably said the words then went straight into his gap integrity speech😁
