My estimates were based on some older local reporting here for University of Texas. They were pulling in nearly $2M per season in alcohol revenue with a slightly smaller stadium.

I've also seen studies that alcohol related behavioral problems decreased after college stadiums started selling alcohol.
If true, then I am okay with it. I can't imagine 8 hours of pre-gaming before a night game and then drinking more when you are in the stadium to put people over the edge from a happy drunk to a complete and utter arsewipe(I know many don't need alcohol for that tough).

Realistically, excessive drinking is rare at Penn State games. You know, Success With Honor.

If Beaver Stadium starts turning into an atmosphere like an NFL game, I won't bother going.
I have been to pretty much every major game the past 30 or so years and the atmosphere is special.

The closest I saw to violence was the walk to the Ohio State game in 2005. It was amped up but nothing in the stadium.

I have a hard time believing any reports that say behavior was BETTER in stadiums after they started selling alcohol.
No doubt, a study done by Anheuser-Busch it sounds like.

(BTW, I love beer)

Obviously they are, but its a few alcoholics who sneak in a bottle of vodka or whiskey.
It isn't as widespread.

You really think waiting 20 minutes in line during a game at 10 bucks a beer will cause drunks to be more widespread?

I can go in buzzed then come out after 1 or 2 then get plastered if I want when the game is over.

I believe the speculated rationale is that fewer people shotgun drinks before entering or sneak it in when they can just buy it inside, resulting in less rapid consumption which would have less impact on BAC. These were studies from 5+ years ago when the concept was still pretty new at some schools. I don't remember how they quantified it, I think it was a comparison of in stadium arrests from before and after alcohol sales were allowed and arrests were lower the first couple of years after when the numbers were published.

Not a big fan of this one .... Purely a $$$ play by PSU. This could become a major nuisance depending on your neighbors ...
