I have come to the realization that this site is head and shoulders above other MSU sites. Folks are actually getting on here and making worthwhile observations. I enjoy most of them. I always come here firstwhen I want to see what the diffrent angles are!

My opinion may not always be shared by you, but we are ALL MSU fans and we finally have a great all around athletic department that we can be proud of!!

is the way they have allowed important breaking news and weather stories be posted. They`ve kept it under control but a lot of really goodOT info has been shared here. It`s been a very good board overall and I hope it keeps going a long time.

before between this site and BDJ. When there was a breaking story, like Cam-gate, I would go back and forth between the 2 sites. Some days BDJ was better, and some days Sixpackspeak was better. Scout was never in the running. Now that BDJ is gone and they are using Rivals 1990-ish message board, The Pack has no competition.

well, not basically, it is ran by the posters. There are no articles - it's just discussion. The topics are generated by the users.

Down here in the swamp the local newspapers and the tv station would report the game results and little else. Events would transpire on campus and it would be months before pieces of the story would trickle out in bits and pieces. Now, thanks to you packers and posters, I know what's going on. Thanks to all of you and to DS for the good work.

I've been part of many message boards over the years and there is a consistent pattern. Board starts small, builds up some users, gets big, guy in charge starts thinking "I gotta get some money out of this", and he royally screws up the site. Even as we have gotten older, and slightly wiser, you and the other folks helping you have allowed the site to stay a place for discussion. You let people fight it out instead of over moderating. You don't delete topics (ever that I have seen) and only lock topics that shouldn't be here, have gotten completely out of control, or just should be allowed to drop from the front page. You only ban people who show a long, repeat pattern of doing really stupid ****. The only thing you ever asked us to do is quit saying *%@* so you could make a few bucks advertising to offset the cost of the site (in time and/or money) and even that you handled in suck a way that it became one of our traditions (17 yeah!).

It's not easy to build a site that does the traffic this one does and it's even harder to maintain quality. The time you put in to this place is definitely appreciated and I salute you good sir.

Occasionally a political or religious discussion comes up, but it will get locked down after everyone fires there shot and anyone attempting to restart the conversation will get their threads locked down and banned. I've seen many a message board get overrun by these off-topic discussions and the people who made the board work in the first place leave in disgust. We're a lot more tolerant of people who have different opinions of certain coaches than of religion and politics.

I never have been much of a poster here, but I have been a long time reader. I forgot my old screen name to to this website, so I had to create this one. I have been on MSU message boards since Gene first created his when it was genespage.com. I enjoyed that website for a few years, but then it became a joke when he started deleting threads worthy of discussion. That place died in my opinion, and this place was needed. This place is continues to be entertaining and informative when it comes to Mississippi State sports. It is now the only MSU website I visit.

The beginning of the DDDY awards was the best thing I have ever witnessed on the internet.

I used to give these ******** hell but I have to say I find more out here than any other board. Of course, I banned myself from the Genie page by blocking it in my firewall. Haven't been there in years.

You bunch of "gnats" who stuck it out and stayed with the "message board" concept have done a good job.

However, some of the original 6 Pack can still KISS MY *** !!

I agree, I prefer this website for up to date news and speculation, but I still read the scout page to keep up with recruiting. Steve does a good job on keeping everyone up to date on the recruiting front. For everything else, the sixpack is the way to go. Plus the obvious bipolar disorder of the 6pack posters always makes this site entertaining. Here's to DS.

Instead of locking threads that have gone on too long, is there any way to get it to just stay at the top of the 2nd page, or to just not 'refresh' with each new post and just work its way down the pages as if it's dead?

That would let people continue their discussion, without the rest of us having to see it on the 1st page.

I guess that's a Yuku suggestion, not a DS suggestion.

but in doing so it creates a bigger pain for the moderator because they still have to worry about the thread and what is being posted within it. For boards that are much larger and more sustainable this isn't a problem for them. But doing this for sixpack would put a strain on DS and the other moderators that is not necessary

i agree that the six pack is a great board. i like to keep up with what's going on around and you guys have good info and are tolerant of visitors and our opinions.i expect some level of abuse if i comment on an msu board but you guys seem to have fun without the rancor that has overtaken some other internet message boards.

When I got to school in 06, I was referred to read the "other board" for discussions and "insider info." It quickly became bland and soon realized that it was basically worthless. Someone suggested this board, and literally a day or two after I found it, the famous TroyMcLure thread was posted (soon to be followed by PJ the Clemson fan) and I was hooked for life. I have only been posting for a few months, but I have always come here first for my fix on MSU sports. The greatest incentive was the free chat and all the info on MSU ringtones. Great job, DS.
